Lightbulb Recoverysource.com - Please give input - 06-21-2008, 08:06 AM
Hello everybody! A while back we discussed expanding TTF, but the general consensus was to not mess with a good thing, so we are working on a new site that is more comprehensive for helping with other addictions. The idea is to maintain the same atmosphere that is so great here at TTF. In the coming weeks as we open the site, we will be looking for help, so please let us know if you are interested. Like TTF, RS will be a public service and is not for profit.

We could really use some input on what you would like to see and how things should be organized, especially the forums and the forum layout.

Currently we are transitioning recoverysource from a copy of TTF, so things will look very familiar.

Visit recovery source (in progress)

Thanks for your time and suggestions!

You know admin, I kind of like the smiley face better than the avatar you use here . I was confused when I started looking at it, I thought I was still here, but then I noticed small changes in the text. You must have a lot on your plate to be doing all of this. I really look up to you. I'm trying to teach myself css, html, and php, so maybe eventually I could help you out with working on these projects. I do know graphics design as well (I have to use the software at school because I don't have photoshop or illustrator personally, but I would love to try to help out there to if you want)

It looks great so far. The nice broad coverage of several different issues reminds me of soberrecovery forums where I am also a member. Its pretty cool because sometimes people with one set of problems can give new perspective to people with an entirely different set of issues. I'm sure I can get a lot of use out of it. Especially the alcoholism, and personality disorder section. I'm looking forward to this.....

At the bottom of the page under essentials the link for "RS Team" isn't working.

That's really exciting, and in fact since I have been coping quite well with the PA, I was looking for resources for mutual support for the underlying depression. I hope to be active on the new forum as well.

One slight thing that struck me, though, was the way the forums are arranged according to the ever-shifting and expanding panoply of medically defined mental 'syndromes'. I'm sure some people find this useful, but there are others who feel boxed in by the syndrome categories and think of mental 'illness' or whatever it is (do we really know?) in various other ways - spiritual, existential, sociological and so on. I feel I'm at risk of becoming the philosophical nit-picker around here, so just let me know if I'm out of order.

Some resources for different points of view are the Icarus Project and the works of R.D. Laing. Buddhist and Chinese Medicine perspectives are also interesting, and don't forget Jesus and his disciples' main 'job' - driving out demons, i.e. treating schizophrenia.

Hi admin,
I like the idea of this site, and I like the way the forum is setup. A couple of categories I'd like to see is one for gambling, and also perhaps a "general addiction" discussion, as I believe perhaps there might not always be a particular category that a certain discussion might fall under. For example, someone like me and addictive personality might move from addiction to another very fast!

I also notice the site looks very similar to TTF. While TTF looks great, I wonder if perhaps a subtle difference could be made to distinguish the two. I'm thinking something very subtle, like a low key background colour change.

Also if you'd like me to help out in anyway - I have basic web design skills and enough free time to contribute/moderate.

When I was young it seemed that life was so wonderful.... a miracle. Oh it was beautiful, magical.

I like the idea! Why shouldn't the TTF formula work for other addictions. I like the look of this keep us updated on the progress.

Keep up the great work admin!

The best,

Ben
