Site Downtime 31st January 2011

Our sincerest apologies for the downtime experienced today for approximatley 2 hours.

The site is now fully up and running, and I can confirm there is no loss of data unless you had posted at the exact moment the site went down.

Over the last several weeks, we believe we have been targetted by hackers, althought this cannot be proved. The TTF team are doing everything in their power to remove rogue accounts and new joiners with malicious intent. Sadly, we are an area that can easily be misunderstood and attacked for this reason.

As TTF is growing, it is clear that we need to step up security, and this is one of the early warning signs.

As mentioned in the new years message, we will be upgrading the site by the end of April this year, and this will significantly improve the security of the site.

So once again while we pride ourselve on providing a seemless service this is now the 2nd unplanned downtime we have had in the last 2 years, which by my experience is a fantastic achievement.

But like all technology we need to continue to evolve, and this is where your donations can really help this community, continue on a daily basis to help others like yourself, and ultimatley that is exactly why all the TTF team and myself commit the hundreds of hours that we do for this site.

Hey, guess what, I posted at EXACTLY the time the site went down! Actually its probably the second time I have posted in a couple of years, hmm, ahem...

When I logged back on a couple of hours later, the main homepage appeared as it did about 3 years ago and all the characters posts and avatars were the ones who first helped me when I came along. Light, 021Hallows etc, I thought they were all back on the site. How weird is that! A few seconds later it was all back to good old 2011, but it was a freaky moment!

Thanks for your hard work in getting the site back up and running. Your a good guy whoever you are ;-)
