Help setting up user avatars

Setting up a user avatar (the picture that appears next to your post and when you login) seems to be a little confusing for some people, so I will try to clarify the process. Please respond to this post if you still have questions.

One big area of confusion is there is a "profile picture" and an "avatar" field in the user CP.

The profile pictures shows up on your profile only, the avatar appears next to your posts and when you login.

Step 1: Log in
Step 2: Click on "User CP" on the top left of the menu bar (next to FAQ, Member List, etc.)
Step 3: Click on "Edit Avatar"
Step 4: Upload your picture, and you're done!
