Lightbulb The Member of the Month Award

      Hey everyone! :)

I am pleased to announce that the Member of the Month Award (Also known as Top-poster of the Month Reward) will return to TTF this month. It's TTF's way of saying thank-you to the people who go out of their way to improve the site.

For those not familiar with the award, details of the rules, rewards and responsibilities of the winners are below.

      The Rules:
      • The award is won by the member with the most posts at the end of the month. This may be calculated a day or so before the actual end of the month for administrative ease.
      • Users who spam to get more posts will not be considered.
      • The same applies to users posting overwhelmingly unhelpful or unfriendly posts.
      The Reward:
      • The winning user will get a snazzy badge for the whole of the next month. After the month is over the badge will be passed to the next winner.
      • The badge will be displayed on the winner's profile and on all of their posts in a similar way to the Supporting Member and Elite Member badges.
      • The top ten posters of the month will also be recorded in a TTF Roll of Honour which will be maintained forever on the site so that we have a record of the people who have made big contributions to the site and to other users. (The previous winners have now been compiled into the beginning of this roll of honour which is here: TTF Roll of Honour)
      • The satisfaction and joy that comes from improving the lives of others.
      Responsibilities of Winners:
      • To enjoy it!
      • To humour us with a short speech. (You can opt out of this if you want to but I think it adds to the occasion)
      • Not to boast too much about your victory! ;)
The next winner will be announced at the end of this month (probably on the 30th of May or 31st of May or the 1st of June depending on what is most convenient) so get posting!

The previous thread of the MotM is here if you want to see how past awards have been run: Top Posters of the Month Reward! .

      Thanks,

      The TTF Team >:D<

      ---

P.S. Feel free to ask if anything is unclear. You can post here or PM me (Vorlan) -as I am currently setting this up.

Note: As the experiment of polling every month took too much time and effort (and therefore didn't get done) we have returned to the old system where simply the person with the most posts gets the award. PROVIDED that their posts have been good, helpful posts and not just spam for points! The top 10 posters will be recorded too in a roll of honour. Also the practice of rewarding posters with gift vouchers cannot be continued as we haven't got the funds to justify it.

The world is in a constant conspiracy against the brave. It's the age-old struggle: the roar of the crowd on the one side, and the voice of your conscience on the other. - Douglas MacArthur

"'Thou mayest rule over sin,' Lee. That's it. I do not believe all men are destroyed. I can name you a dozen who were not, and they are the ones the world lives by. It is true of battles - only the winners are remembered. Surely most men are destroyed, but there are others who like pillars of fire guide frightened men through the darkness. 'Thou mayest!' What glory! It is true that we are weak and sick and quarrelsome, but if that is all we ever were we would, millenniums ago, have disappeared from the face of the earth. A few remnants of fossilised jawbone, some broken teeth in a strata of limestone, would be the only mark man would have left of his existance in the world. But the choice, Lee, the choice of winning!" - East of Eden by John Steinbeck

      Default Thank You

Thank you Vorlan and the TTF Team!

Your hard work behind the scenes, making the time for this recognition for example (and the new badge..), helps to keep me motivated and alert in the ongoing effort to remain clean. Thank you very much!

A speech? I hardly ever have anything to say...

TTF is an Oasis in the midst of an online cultural desert.

This is the one place where you can find people who understand, can feel what you're feeling, can offer help in what has/hasn't worked for them, for encouragement to make it one more hour free. That's precious.

When I first arrived here, I was doing some minor research on the negative effects P renders in society at large. Specifically, I was reading an article where a Prnographer and a District Attorney were having a pro- and con- essay-style debate on the merits (or lack thereof) of the P industry. The Prngrapher's arguments were not coherent -no surprise there.

And in that bit of poking around I saw Through The Flame for the first time. I read FoolishMind's valiant posts in Half Pint's Journal, trying to reel HP in before he went away for a time (Original HERE)

To this day my favorite intro:

Probably without intending to, Foolish' efforts turned a light on for me: I can actually help people out of the same predicament I was in! Unbelievable!

How extraordinary that out of such wreckage, decades of PA, a marriage, Mrs. Daniel, the emotional hits she endured, and self-inflicted pain on my part...

Out of this, something Good could happen.

That is what makes my gears turn.

      Long Live TTF.

Thanks guys, I'd also like to offer special thanks to Daniel who's probably helped me more than anybody on my own journey. I find coming to this site and giving advice to others helps on my own battle immensely -- after all, I can hardly back out after I've made five or six posts trying to tell everyone else what to do! :D

You know, I really thought this quitting P was going to be much easier than it's actually turned out to be. When I made the decision to try to quit almost 12 months ago now, I really didn't think it would be that difficult. It would have been easy for me to lose focus at the first hurdle had it not been for this site where I can interact with others who are on the same journey, and read about how they are overcoming their own struggles.

I may have given up the fight without you guys, so it's nice to know I've been able to put something back. I also had a suggestion that perhaps this award could be given to the member who receives the most 'thanks' during the month to stop people from 'padding' their post count. Just a thought.

      Congratulations gnein! Well deserved!

It's awesome to see you active in so many others' situations... just past the observation that in helping others you end up helping yourself.

      Rock On!
