      Default Healing

I'd like to start a thread about methods of healing that people have found helpful. This could include anything like psychotherapy, acupuncture, massage, meditation, energy healing arts, and so on. I would be interested to hear what has been helpful.

I have practised Buddhist meditation and traditional Eastern martial arts for the past few years. This has been amazingly helpful in my self development and has definitely helped me to beat the addiction. I also have a wholefood based vegan diet that is both ethical (as much as possible in our society, at least) and healing. I am currently looking through a book called Healing with Wholefoods to get some more detailed information about how a wholefood diet can be adjusted to individual needs. I have also received attunement to Reiki Level 1, which I use occasionally for general energetic healing and often find very effective.

Nice Thread Kudos! I've suffered from a panic disorder that I choose not to medicate, instead when I feel one coming on I make myself slow down and take deep deep breathes and slow exhalation, within about 5 minutes the panic usually subsides. I'm not sure if this will help anyone, but it helps me to clear my mind and calm down.

On the acupuncture note I have never tried it for myself but I saw on TV once a dog being treated via acupuncture, it was the neatest thing ever, the dog just sort of laid down to one side completely relaxed without a care in the world, it was a bomb sniffing dog that was traumatized by loud noises on duty. I was pretty amazed and would deffinatly try that.

The harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheaply, we esteem too lightly; 'Tis dearness only that gives everything its value.

I have worked with a of energy healing techniques that I learned from a good friend of mine who is a massage therapist who specializes in energy healing. I really like the stuff I've learned through the Emotional Freedom Technique and other mental training applications. It's amazing the ability the body has to heal itself with the help of the mind. Massage is a huge factor for me along with Chiropractic, due to some vertebra injuries I sustained as a teenager, fyi 90mph in a 90 degree curve in a truck, not a good idea flying through the air and tumbling 6 times = no fun. I've never tried acupuncture but did have a chiropractor one time that used acupressure and had great results. And my last addition that is waiting for our finances to catch up is psychotherapy, I do not believe in medicating mental issues unless they are true chemical imbalances...but do agree that this is a personal choice and have friends that meds worked for...they just made me worse.
