Post How Accountability Can Help Break Us Free - 07-08-2008, 05:44 PM
I'm new to Through the Flame, but I am a recovering porn addict and now involved in the ministry of Covenant Eyes. The name of the ministry is based on Job 31:1, where Job expresses his sexual integrity: "I have made a covenant with my eyes not to look lustfully at a girl."

As a recovering addict I understand the pain of addiction and the feeling of hopelessness one can have about it. At the same time, also know the power of the gospel of Jesus Christ, and I know how He uses accountability and discipleship in the church to expose the roots of our sin and set us FREE!

If anyone is interested in hearing more about Covenant Eyes accountability software, it may be exactly what you need to propel you towards good accountability with your Internet use. When we choose not to be anonymous with our Internet use it really helps to break the grip of pornography's secrecy.

I used this software to good effect for a while.

One recommendation (from experience): Do NOT make your SO your accountability partner! As getting a weekly report email was like a fresh smack in the face for my SO. While I was finding the CovEyes software to be helpful for just keeping my goals in mind. The Covenant Eyes software does throw quite a few "false positives" when it comes to risky sites. Eg. if a banner ad on a "clean-site" is served from a remote server on a "dirty-site" URL adultfriendfinder.com and others. So each Monday she would get an email and then I woudl spend an hour defending many of those "false positives".

my 2¢
