      Default Strange addiction.

I'm a guy but I'm addicted to gay porn. I'm attracted girls and go out with them but I just don't get attracted by normal heterosexual porn. I don't want to be gay nordo I feel like i'm going to be gay but yet I keep on viewing gay porn and can't stop. So, I'm addicted and can't stop.
Please if anyone can relate or help with any advice to stop and understand would be great.

      Default Welcome

      Hi Fernandmagi, welcome to TTF!

I sincerely hope you will find the answers to your questions here.I don't have any answers specific to addiction to gay P though I think I've heard a similar story before. My advice is to work towards kicking the habit now. I would advise you to sit down and write out all the things that trigger your P usage. No matter how trivial they may seem this is a really important thing to do. You'll be amazed how much easier it is to avoid looking at P if you know what makes you want to look at it and avoid the temptations before they hit you. There is tons of information on this site which could help you to beat this. FM: The truth is painful - but required and HP's: My Struggle - HalfPint recovery journals are particularly good and inspiring. Farmer's journal: Farmer's Journal is also a good bet, his analytical, systematic attack on his addiction is truly inspiring.

I'd also recomend that you familiarise yourself with the forum rules: More about ThroughTheFlame.org

I wish you the best of luck in beating this! Take things one day at a time and keep positive. Thats the key!

      Best Wishes,

      Ben

      P.S.
Bozo: I think he meant that he was not interested in guys at all, just in gay P. I'm not sure that makes him Bi. (correct me if I'm wrong) Is it possible to be straight but addicted to gay P?

"'Thou mayest rule over sin,' Lee. That's it. I do not believe all men are destroyed. I can name you a dozen who were not, and they are the ones the world lives by. It is true of battles - only the winners are remembered. Surely most men are destroyed, but there are others who like pillars of fire guide frightened men through the darkness. 'Thou mayest!' What glory! It is true that we are weak and sick and quarrelsome, but if that is all we ever were we would, millenniums ago, have disappeared from the face of the earth. A few remnants of fossilised jawbone, some broken teeth in a strata of limestone, would be the only mark man would have left of his existance in the world. But the choice, Lee, the choice of winning!" - East of Eden by John Steinbeck

Hey, Welcome to TTF (throughtheflame.org) where you are welcomed just like us :)

o wow that is a weird addiction. I am not here to condem you and im not here to judge you. i am struggling with porn addiction myself but not in that way. Many people are unsure of there sexuallity all i have to say about gays and lesbians is that i dont approve of it but like i said i am not here to judge people. A few things that could help.

      1. Dont think about gay porn like it makes you want to MB to it. that is where people can get really confused about there sexuallity.
      2. god made adam and eve, not adam and steve. this is a catchy fraze i learned to steer clear of gay things and gay porn.
      3. if it does strike you again then use it as a lessong to learn. make a note of it in a journal on the site and use it to steer clear of the porn if possible.

hope this helped and remember people here are to help you and not judge you

      God bless, Wendell

      Hi Fernandmagi,

Welcome to the forum. Thanks for a very open post. Even though we enjoy a comforting level of anonymity here, I can understand how that can't have been easy for you. I am gay, and I"m telling you this so you're aware that I am posting from a gay perspective.

First to comment on what has been posted here.
      1) I dont think your problem is weird or strange. It's not the first time I've heard of it.
      2) There is no section here for gay people. TTF in general is open and accepting of all people, regardless of there sexual orientation or religious persuasion.
      3) Do you think you have a problem with porn addiction in general? I mean, if it wasn't homo-erotic porn you were looking at, would it still bug you ?
      4) This thread has a lot of potential to turn into an irrelevant debate on whether or not its ok to be gay. I will try and stick to the issue here, which is gay porn addiction.

I am not saying you are gay and I feel the best advice I can give you is not to try and put yourself into any category or stereotypes. I have friends who consider themselves very straight, yet sometimes become curious about gay porn. They say every man, at some stage in their life is curious at least once. Try and be honest with yourself. Its very difficult for someone who hates the thought of being gay to grapple with the fact that they may be (and once again I'm not saying that you are). When you are walking down the street in real life, who is it that you notice (if anyone)?

Porn addiction is a big problem we are all confronted with, and you will find a lot of great advice here. But I think before we proceed with helping you, the most important question to answer here is: Do you want to stop looking at all porn, or do you just want to stop looking at gay porn?

      Welcome again, and good luck.

I don't think you have to decide whether you're gay or straight. You are what you are and for many people, if not most people, it's a lot more complicated. The labels gay and straight are just words, very much culturally defined (e.g. in ancient Greece it was the norm for men to be what we would call bisexual, but they didn't have that word as the categories were defined totally differently) and not everyone is going to fit into those categories. The main thing is dealing with your addiction, not fretting about what off-the-shelf category you fit into.
