One week. One week! I thought I had it! I thought it was over. I had gone one whole week, and now I completely trashed it!

I was sitting right there. I had my choice and I made it.

What the hell is my problem? I think I need a good stern kick in the nuts.

"I think I need a good stern kick in the nuts" hahah
Sorry, not laughing at your situation, but that struck me as funny. I can only speak for myself here, but I don't think my battle against addiction will ever be "over" As they say, "once a cucumber becomes a pickle, it can never go back". I'm gonna be fighting this for the rest of my life. Not that it won't be easier and less of a fight as time goes on, but I don't think I'll ever really be "cured" of this. Your experience may differ, of course.
As far as your wondering "what's my problem?" I have one idea: I notice you've been a member here for a few weeks, but this appears to be only your second post. I think if you share your thoughts in a journal, or post in threads and interact here, it can give you a lot of help. I'm not trying to judge you or tell you what to do, but its something to think about anyway.
Keep on trying!!!

This is what most of us have gone through, multiple times. Your post doesn't indicate whether you've put together a recovery plan, something more than just "I'm going to try not to do this anymore." That sort of a plan is almost guaranteed to fail. Read the article "Breaking Porn Addiction - Getting Started" on the home page of this site for some good ideas about to put a recovery plan together. I think most of us have found that confiding in someone you trust about your problem takes much of the strength out of the urge to view porn. People that don't have that option may have to rely on this forum. Depending on how bad things are you might consider professional help, as I have. In any event, you've made the right decision to address this problem. Good luck in getting rid of it. Life is much better without porn.

Hi atrus,
Try not to concentrate on your sense of failure here. One week is an awesome first achievement, and I'm willing to bet looking at porn once a week is still significantly less than what you are use to.

No, take pride in what you've achieved and consider this an opportunity to evaluate what went wrong. Perhaps you have learned its not as easy as it originally seemed and that you could put measures in place this time to ensure you dont slip.

Good luck with this man.
P.S. Would it help if I threatened to kick you in the nuts the next time you slip?? LOL.

Don't worry, a lot of people slip up. It's horrible at the time but it's not the end of your struggle. You can use the experience to see what happens in your mind when you get triggered into porn using behaviour, and that will help you to avoid it next time.

I agree with others that you need clear strategies. See what others have done here and find what works for you. The forum is an amazing lifeline and resource. Just getting involved helps focus your intention.

Hey man, don't be to hard on yourself. A couple of slip ups aren't the end of the world. Keep in mind that this is something that's been a problem for years. These kind of things take almost equal, if not more, amount of time to get over. Don't worry about it, but just try, try, try again. You will make it.
