Default Inspiration on Failed Attempts to Quit

"There is no failure except in no longer trying. "
- Elbert Hubbard

"Our greatest glory is not in never failing, but in rising every time we fail."

- Confucius

Even after every attempt to quit has failed, and you feel like you can't go on with your new freedom think of those quotes above.
Self worth alone, and the fact that you can actually look at yourself in the mirror and say "I'm going to be free from this lustful hold on me", and remaining clean is the goal. Listen, not every sports game is won, there's no perfect score in anything. If life were perfect you'd be in a different plane of existence (Nirvana). Think of it this way, we attempt to free ourselves because we've acknowledged there is something wrong. Whatever it is. You want to change. You've made the attempt. That there is a success story alone. You saw within yourself there is something that needs to go away.

With recovery comes the urge or the need to feed that monster we once had within us. The next attempt is to say No. Stand up for yourself. Stand up for what you believe in. In a debate, you would stand up for your beliefs and think you're right. You are, because it's your opinion! You matter. Porn doesn't.

You've connected to something that takes away from who you are. Denies your spouse of your complete dedication/devotion. It creates a deceitful person. Is that what you're Significant other deserves? Not at all. They want all of you, the one they married.
You're doing the best thing for yourself for quitting, and a fall back, doesn't end the world.

We're human, we keep on keeping on no matter what. That's the goal. Love one another, understand your differences, and try to do for your loved ones, family etc.

The next failure you have, think of this, you're not alone. Write your journal, in it write your frustrations, anything you feel you need to let go of. It's your journal. It's your memories, it's your freedom you're fighting for.

You. Are. Worth. Every. Moment. In. Your. Life.

Thank you,
Borrowed Hope

Thanks Borrowed Hope,

Those quotes have given me some inspiration too, and helped me get back on the horse after I recently threw myself off. I appreciate you offering them up and am always moved by the genuine community here willing to help one another.

I am worth it, you are worth it, and we are all worth it. Sometimes that is hard to remember when life is challenging and the addict is trying to fill the void... but it is true and important to remember.

Thanks.
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference.

"I thank God for my handicaps, for through them, I have found myself, my work and my God" Helen Keller

I very much like this post. I know it can seem hopeless sometimes. For years ... for decades it can seem hopeless. The good news is that it's not.

Recovery is a journey, not a destination.
