      Default The Book of Daniel

      This is an homage to our 2009 Member of the Year.
      The following quotes are taken from one of TTF's all time greatest success stories, the first Legendary Member, a pioneer in the fight against PA, a remarkable giver, and a very wise man. Daniel's words help everyone. The PA, the SO, and even the non-addict. Most of these quotes are taken from his own Journal- Onward. These are just some of my favorites.
      If you are looking for an example of how to beat this addiction, look no further.
      ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
      Thank you to all those who have made this latest journey out of P and into freedom so possible. Daniel: 150 Days!- Onward
      The solution I found at the toughest points was a simple prayer of deliverance. Another solution (in tandem with the first) was to force my mind to focus hard on the task at hand. Another option was to move out, walk away, change the environment. Daniel: Onward
      Jesus Himself was referenced as a "man of many sorrows" and it's fair to ask why this was. Because He could see things as they really were and it wasn't a pretty picture! Daniel: LL’s Journal
      Pure and simple this is what it takes.
      Continual prayer and hard discipline. Daniel: On Thoughts and Dreams- Onward
      The lie that echos is 'ONE BIG FIX' and you're good.
      But it's simply not true. Daniel: Famer’s Journal
      There can be NO COMPROMISE with P. No collective bargaining. No deals with the Devil. Daniel: One Year After- Onward
      I have likened the thought-life-clean-up process to a river with pollution. If we're careful not to add more pollution, the currents will eventually move the junk out and we can enjoy thoughts that are clean and pure. Daniel: Innappropriate Thoughts
      There's no short-cut to the time aspect and the time aspect falls apart without diligence along the way... Daniel: Onward
      At a real high level, it's not our performance, it's not what we just did, it is our MINDSET. In the end, our mindset is all that matters. Daniel: LL’s Journal
      I am thankful my feelings have returned. I hope and pray that when they are hurt that I do not cause collateral damage in my reaction(s), be they silence or less-than-kind responses... Daniel: Unexpected Byproduct- Onward
      And after a LONG TIME of persistent work, I believe we will get to the point where we don't actively "try" not to think about something.
      We simply just do not think about it anymore. That will be the long-term solution. Daniel: On Thoughts and Dreams- Onward
      P will make you hit the wall, and you may be able to recover without too much tragedy.
      Then you hit it again. And again. And again. .. ...
      And then one time too many and the world falls down around you. At least mine did.
      Thus I ask you to strongly consider changing course before it has to be a CRASH TURN that can make your life a living Hell. Daniel: maybe this will help…
      I vote we do everything in our power to succeed, as to give ourselves the best possible chance of having a fine sense of accomplishment, achievement, thanksgiving, for a life lived well. Daniel: Compartmentalization- Onward
      ... And so long as I do not skate near the edge or play games in my mind or actions as to "how far can I go and not cross the line..?", then continued success is virtually assured. Daniel: Onward
      It takes a winner to take a raw look at his life and simply say "I will not give up". Daniel: LL’s Journal
      I'm far from perfect in any way, performance, thought life, mental images, dreams, eye control... the list goes on.
      But I know where I am supposed to be and that's the direction I strive for. Daniel: 240 Days in…- Onward
      Yes it's hard.
      Yes I still have my very difficult moments and I am very far from perfect.
      But I will never stop putting out the fires, plugging the holes in my defenses, working on being diligent, reminding myself not to give up, asking God again (and again and again) to allow the pressure to go away, that may realize how very blessed I am...
      To be here, right now. Daniel: Athenon’s Path
      I just want to say today, if you're reading this and your hoping beyond all hope to break free, that you WANT FREEDOM SO BAD...
      You will get it.If you want it, then you will have it -take hope!
      And it IS SO VERY WORTH THE EFFORT! Daniel: Onward
      Thanks Daniel!!!
      Great post Mefree.
      Her's a few more "Danielisms" that I enjoy...
      "This is one aspect of the power we have at TTF and I believe it is to be celebrated. We come from many backgrounds and have many worldviews, but firmly united in the journey to overcome PA."
      ___
      "I simply do my best to make the right call for the simple reason that it is the Right Thing to Do!
      I can make choices that will make my life easier.
      Or I can make choices that will make my life harder."
      ___
      "Let your motivation be firmly grounded in doing right for Right's sake."
      ___
      "I have also learned that long-term success definitely does not equal perfect performance in thought & deed, but certainly represents a giant leap of improvement and a life drastically changed, a mind renewed."
      We could probably go on and on in this thread. :)
      Peace,
      ~C~
      Yeah definately!
      A legend indeed!
      Best wishes,
      Ben
      The world is in a constant conspiracy against the brave. It's the age-old struggle: the roar of the crowd on the one side, and the voice of your conscience on the other. - Douglas MacArthur
      "'Thou mayest rule over sin,' Lee. That's it. I do not believe all men are destroyed. I can name you a dozen who were not, and they are the ones the world lives by. It is true of battles - only the winners are remembered. Surely most men are destroyed, but there are others who like pillars of fire guide frightened men through the darkness. 'Thou mayest!' What glory! It is true that we are weak and sick and quarrelsome, but if that is all we ever were we would, millenniums ago, have disappeared from the face of the earth. A few remnants of fossilised jawbone, some broken teeth in a strata of limestone, would be the only mark man would have left of his existance in the world. But the choice, Lee, the choice of winning!" - East of Eden by John Steinbeck
      I have to add this one...
