      Default New lifestyle :)

Hey, I am a university student in my 3rd year doing an Honours Degree. I want to get an MA in Sociology, but I don't think that's realistic if I continue to live this way. Being up to 2 am on the P, I can't live like that anymore. I have to change my lifestyle.I wanted to be an addictions counsellor, but I have changed that path, and I sit in on group therapy for drug addicts. The one thing I learned there is that these guys don't just say "hey quit drinking". Its an entire lifestyle that has to be changes.

      My plan
      - Study harder
      - Sleep earlier(use melatonin- sleep pattern pill)
      - be around others
      - come to you guys when I need support
      -support others
-talk to my brothers that are recovering from drug/alcohol addiction.

      Good luck to all.

I have similar interests as yourself, looking into some sort of addiction therapist. it is so interesting to see how similar an alcohol addiction can be to something like a porn addiction - so different.. yet so similar. i think you have the foundation of a very good support plan. sleeping more, studying harder and being an active member on this forum are all very positive things that will help you in the long run. definetly come here whenever you need support, there are so many members on this forum that know exactly what you are going through and are very willing to lend a hand!

Dondeluis: you have a great plan! I especially like "be around others" and "sleep earlier" because these should help you change more than just the immediate problem behavior of looking at p, which you point out is the way to success. Thanks!

Hey, Pipster, thanks for your wise words here and elsewhere! Hope that the second semester for you is a good time.

I unfortunately am not sleeping early tonight as I am sick and struggled with some homework.

      dondeluis,

      Absolutely.

I think it is a huge benefit that you can sit in on their discussions as it will provide a good objective viewpoint to your own internal thoughts about breaking freee.

And you would be surprised how useful you may be as an addiction specialist after having successfully recovered from your own!

I would much prefer to work as a Sociologist. My goal is not to be an addictions counsellor now.
