Yeah, get K9 and use a prayer for password. And if it works, thank Rowlf.

I used to smoke. When I tried to quit smoking I found that there were really two addictions that I had to beat. The first was the physical addiction (that addiction to nicotine). To combat that many people use the patch or the gum as "replacement therapy". In the case of PA, my replacement right now is to come here to this site when I am tempted. I am securing the same endorphin rush, but through the joy of helping others and seeing the replies to my posts.

The second addiction I had to break with smoking was the habit. I was a habit that had formed over many years. Right after dinner, I grabbed a smoke. Right after sx, I had a smoke. When I played pool, I never quit smoking. I had to deal with the physical first because of the withdrawal symptoms (they're amazingly alike to the ones for PA - nerves, inability to concentrate, edginess, bitterness, anger, etc...) Once the physical addiction was done, I had to break the habit. I had to change up my patterns and I couldn't go to a Pool Hall for years because I always smoked at the pool hall. If you find that boredom and a computer equals a relapse, first practice replacement therapy with this site or video games, or something other than the P, then change your habits. Don't get on-line when you know your bored, watch a movie instead. Replace your habits that lead to relapses with new ones.

Don't give up...It took me four tries to quit smoking and everyone knows how bad that is for us.

I think it is a good idea to have something to do on a computer when you are bored. I think computers are everywhere now.
Being honest I think a lot of people work in front of a computer,
like myself...there is no escape. I agree this site is a big help.
Also as you said if there is a good distraction on your computer such as a game you really like it is a big help when you are bored.
It may be another addiction but one which will not feel like me crawling under a rock. I have been alright for three days.
But I work on my own. I also work on a computer so it will be
hard for me as with others who spend a lot of time online.
