Default All the time you gain... it's amazing! - 01-25-2008, 08:46 AM
One thing that's struck me in the past 4 P and MB free nights is how much time I've suddenly gained. The pattern before was like this:

- time between coming home and start of an internet P session is filled with waiting until wife and children will go to bed so I can get started
- getting increasingly grumpy and snappy until they disappear upstairs
- get onto the internet at about 10 or 11 pm and have a session of 2-3 hours
- go to bed at 1 or 2 am
- get up grumpy at 7 am, not rested and too tired to be productive at work

The pattern of the last 4 days has been:

- play with the children and help put them to be and ACTUALLY ENJOY IT, not rushing to get it over with to get onto the internet
- have a relaxing chat with my wife after the children go to sleep
- read some magazines, catch up with some reading for work
- go to bed before midnight and wake up naturally at 7 am, not woken by the alarm clock
- feel rested and ready for a day of work

Amazing. I feel so liberated. Can you believe I'm reading magazines at night? I never had time for any reading. But I finally realise that's because I was wasting all my time on something as useless as P. I've been so stupid for so many years.

When you feel a moment of weakness, just think of the amazing things you gain from kicking the habit.

There is NO turning back.

Clog.

Hi Clog, and welcome here! I am glad that you found this site and that you've decided to make a change. Better late than never my friend

I can completely identify with your post here, and what you've said.

When I was using porn, it was just as you described. It was always "I can't wait to get through this other stuff so I can spend my time doing what I really want to do (look at porn)."

That other stuff was things I should be enjoying, that normal people enjoy, time with family and friends. Important things, and things that really matter.

But none of that mattered when I was using porn, because porn was the most important thing. I had to "get my fix."

Also, it seemed that the more and more I used porn, the more other things didn't excite or interest me the way they used to. I really lost the "spark" in my life, which is so sad.

As you said, life is so much more full and rich, and has so much more to offer now that I don't look at that stuff. It sounds crazy, but even the smallest, simplest things have more beauty and life than they ever did before.

Thanks for pointing this out and good luck on "the road back" to life before porn. It's not always easy but well worth the effort.

Congratulations on your 4 days!
