    Thread: Should I do it?

      Default Should I do it?

Just a few hours ago I decided to quit my PA. I went and deleted all of the files on my computer and all of the hidden bookmarks in by web browser. Now it seems like the next logical step is to remove the various accounts on sites that I regularly attend.

I feel like if I go to remove the account altogether I will end up seeing some of the videos/images I have saved and end up looking. Should I wait, should I go and test my will power, or should I try to forget these sites altogether?

I also feel that if I delete these accounts that I have I will have a slightly harder time finding what I "want" and give myself more time to think about what I am doing. Anyone else find or have found themselves in this situation?

      Hi Imhere,

I've been in a similar position and I went ahead and deleted everything.

For me, I was always strongest about combatting PA in the morning. My mind felt focussed and I was not interested in indulging. If I'd left it till the evenings I would have succumbed to 'one last session before I delete' and been back on the same old track. Also if I'd left the accounts active I would have been back to them.

So, I don't know you have an equivilent safe period in your day when your resolution to beat this stuff is very clear. Hopefully so and go for it.

Good luck in this, your new P free life!

Yes, I think you should do it, and make a clean break. Get in there and out as quickly as you can! I think, as Rowlf says, if you keep these accounts open it will be too easy for you to quickly access the P you want and this will prey on your mind.

I've deleted, then joined again, then re-deleted then joined again. It's a struggle - I hope you can cut it off without re-joining. Not trying to get you discouraged - just watch out and be aware. I'm moving forward (again) - knowing I can't let myself down! Good luck

      want2change,

What plan have you put in place the next time you're tempted to re-join?

Get it down to behaviour levels - think what you will do instead of sitting at the computer pulling out your credit card. Will you get up? pull the plug on the computer? move to another room? etc. etc.

Make a real change here - it's so easy to keep on with the old ways....

hey imhere, i agree with futurehope. deleting the accounts will give you an extra hurdle to get past if you have the urge to look at P again. a very very very slim hurdle i know, but one all the same. good luck with your combat with PA, hope you can make it through :)

      i also think rowlf's mention of a plan's a great idea.

      hey imthere

i have not gone through a certain situation but i would suggest to delete the accounts as quick as possible and not think of anything but getting to your goal and deleting everything that is possible

maybe do your deleting with your SO (or if that is no good - try an understanding friend) somewhere nearby so that you will not be tempted to spend too much time.

      just a thought
