Whats in a name?

Hi All,
Thumbs up to admin and the mods for including a forum for gay people. I'm not sure if it is necessary, but I guess I can see advantages for those that perhaps don't want to see this sort of discussion (and same applies for religious forums I guess).

I am Scooter, 24 years old, gay and until recently in a long term relationship (My P usage was a major factor, and this is a big reason I am motivated to stop).

My reason for this post is, to invite discussion regarding the title of this forum, currently "Homosexuals in Recovery". I got half way through writing a private message to admin, firstly thanking him for the forum, and then asking him to consider a name change. I gave up half way through because although I knew there was something I didn't like about the current name, I couldn't suggest a better alternative and thought maybe other members here might have better ideas.

So this is a thread for ideas and opinions, but I dont want it to turn into a debate.

The reason I dont like the current name is because its too limited and feel it should be broadened, to accomodate for gay men but also bisexual, curious, woman, transgender and anybody else with alternative sexualities. Its also important to maintain the focus of porn addiction and support which I guess is why the current name exists.

Options I like are:

• Rainbow Forum: PA support for those of alternative sexualities
• Gay/Bi Forum: For GLBT people affected by pornography.

or maybe a mix of these? Do you have your own preference, or idea?

p.s. I'm not saying the admin/mods WILL change it, but I'm sure if theres enough support they'll take it on board...

We guessed that there might be some name suggestions for this section, by all means this is something that is changeable to whatever gets the most popular votes. Scooter, why don't you make a poll to vote for the name people like best?

Cos I'm lazy, heh, and wanted to get some ideas from others as my ideas are in short supply. But for sure I can do that once I've got a few options to put up.

Another reason for creating this forum is it seems like there is a demand for it since several members have asked in the past, and there is no place on the internet set up for gay people looking for help with pornography. So it's great that we can provide this forum for those seeking help and friendship.

Thanks, Admin! Scooter: you rock! As for name: I like Rainbow Forum! When I was in college (over 20 years ago! Yikes!) the gay social group on campus was dealing with its name. I think the name was GLB group and I think GLBT" was proposed (or something like that; it was a classic "name" discussion: who are we? what do we call ourselves). Someone suggested "Sexual Minorities United Together" It makes for a great acronym!
