Default Is this true of the addictive person?

Without the addiction the person is a caring, loving person that wants to help people. The addict does not care about anything but what he craves at that instant. The person outside of the addict wants, cares, loves, wants to spend time with others. The addict wants to be left alone to exploit their addiction. This results in a person who is angry, mad, anti-social, secretive, manipulative, and will hurt anyone who is near, even if they do not want to hurt others. The addict does not see anything outside of the present moment and what they have to have for the addiction.

      Life-lies-trust,

I think this is a fairly accurate description of an addict. The sentences about the addiction itself hits the nail on the head. However, I do not completely agree with the parts that talk about the person as an individual. "The person outside of the addict wants, cares, loves, wants to spend time with others" This is most likely true for the majority of people in general, but of course not everyone is going to want to care, love, or even spend time with others - even when they aren't addicted to anything.

      But overall, yes.

"The addict wants to be left alone to exploit their addiction. This results in a person who is angry, mad, anti-social, secretive, manipulative, and will hurt anyone who is near, even if they do not want to hurt others. The addict does not see anything outside of the present moment and what they have to have for the addiction."

In my personal experience, this describes me to a T. In the moment, the addiction rules everything. You do what you need to in order to get it and not much can stop you. It definetly does create very hostile feelings not just about the addict themself but about most people around them.

      Hope this helps,

      Pippy
