Default Do computers turn themselves on?

It's been nearly two months since the initial confrontation with my PA husband. He has sworn to me he has quit. I installed a keylogger on his computer and recently a filter on our router (which is not fool proof). Okay, so why do I keep finding his daughter's computer on when I have made absolutely certain that it was completely shut down?

      My suspicions:

He has been using her PlayStation to watch videos or he has been using the PlayStation to browse the internet in hopes I wont' find out.

I know you can use PlayStation to browse the internet, but I don't know how it works. Can anyone explain this to me? I want all the facts before I confront my husband. I would love to catch him in the act so that he can't lie his way out of it.

I just want the truth! Wish my PA would come clean but I suspect at this point he's in denial about his addiction and doesn't want to stop anyway (which means our marriage is over and he knows that).

      Thanks for any advice.........

Many PCs have a setting in the BIOS which can be configured to automatically power on a PC at a specific time each day. I have never used this feature, but it could be useful for something like daily backups which run late at night. It would be off by default.

PlayStation : Don't know, my boys are Wii / XBox users

Thanks. I did check the BIOS (I'm learning way more about computers these days than I ever wanted to know.) For whatever reason, the computer was sent to turn on each weekday morning, so I disabled that feature.

Hopefully that means my suspicions regarding DH are groundless, which is good news.

Hi Hopeful, sorry to hear you are going through this hellish torture.

Trust your instinct over his word IMO. I know its important to get to a point of trust at some point, but clearly he has not earnt your trust back because you still doubt him.

So, if you think something is going on, it probably is. It might just not be the source you think it is.

I would also say.. you can't ever really know for sure. I told my DH if I as much as suspect he is diong it again, that means he is not earning my trust, putting himself in compromising positions or just plain not thinking.. then that's that. Who wants to live having to second guess everything.. not me.
