      Default Hi everyone!

      Hi people :)

I've just seen on the news that the conservatives have blamed "lads mags", for men's lack of respect for women.

Maybe a slight step for us? I dunno, i'm not too keen on the conservatives but what they are saying here I feel is important.

But on a not so happy note, i saw a comedian last night at a festival (i only went in the comedy tent coz it was raining!!!!), he was making jokes about P, prostitutes and was joking about sex addiction. It really upset me and made me angry. Here was a huge tent full of young lads (including kids!), and an idiot on the stage saying that there's no problem with any of it, and there's no such thing as a sex addiction. He contiued to add that his wife left him, i wonder why!!!

Hope you're all doing ok. x

I always think it is a great thing when somebody stands up and says that this is not ok, because we are constantly told that this is normal and acceptable.

On a similar note, I wish they would remove the girly magazines away from sports magazines. My 10 year old loves Rugby so when we go to the newsagent to buy a Rugby magazine he is given these messages that mens interests are sport and scantily clad ladies.

It frustrates me, they should have magazines of certain types in areas where they are not visible to children. (This is in Australia, maybe different countries are already doing this).

It seems boys can't like sport, cars or bikes without having to be forced into a certain belief about how to perceive women.

Nahh glass it's the same here in the USA...they started putting black covers over the "mens" mags but most places don't even follow that rule...it makes me angry. I don't want to walk into a gas station and see some over siliconed, airbrushed, scantily clad woman on the cover of a mag staring back at me by the checkout...and I don't have kids...If I did I might just go a little postal if they saw that.

It's not just in the lads mags either, check out Playstation Magazine etc, they're all full of subservient women in gross outfits (

It's so irritating isn't it, my man loves his cars, but can't have some car magazines because of what else they put in it! My boyfriend's addiction started from reading his dad's newspaper when he was 11... it shouldn't be allowed.

Very annoying indeed, but this goes way beyond magazines isnt it. Generally more and more flesh is allowed to be shown in television commercials for cars, bikes, shower gels, deodorants, just about any product to be honest.

I too am very much into cars and motorbikes, and no matter what you media you look at, be it, websites, magazines or large adverts on streets, the input of somehting sxually suggestive will always be in place. The media industry knows for centuries sx sells, and will continue to do so. So that will not stop. But it does need to be policed and restricted as right now things are just getting way to leniant and flexible. It will be too late for the goverments to step in, and it will be very hard to get solid facts to justify that all this is linked to failing in relationships, higher proportion of single people, teenage pregnancy increases, single parent families, STDs and the list goes on.

Advertisers and organisers of any event that seems male orientated is fair game. I took my son to the drag races with my husband, and it was mostly groups of families and yet they still have women in tiny outfits walking around as the advertising for different teams.

What a great way to encourage families back.

You can see how males can become addicted at 11. My son is 10 and because of the experience with my husband I am really sensitive and worried about it.

*sigh* it seems like a battle that can not be won.
