Default Has anyone heard of..... the "Great Pacific Garbage Patch?"

My little cousin and younger brother were telling me they both learned about it in grade school.. This is terribly depressing and shocking news to me. Apperantly there is a large clump of trash out in the pacific ocean that is x times the size of Texas.. or something like that. Hard to find conclusive information on the internet, but if this exists I am extremely concerned!

I was pretty dismayed when I first learned about that, too, Peter. There's a book called Water: A Natural History, by Alice Outwater, that goes into a lot of detail on how garbage islands like that are formed. If you still feel like going on after you read that, try Googling "Mobro 4000." It's sort of sadly humorous.
