      Wink Quitting smoking

Is there any smokers here or other people quitting smoking?

I previously quit using the easyway system by Allen Carr. I started smoking for about the last three weeks. I'm listening to audiobook today and am at one day smoke-free.

      Hi Mforward!
Just wanted to jump in with some encouragement here! I quit smoking 15 years ago, cold turkey, and never looked back! It was the best thing I have ever done for myself!
I found deep breathing and drinking ice water helped tremendously with my cravings!
Wishing you well as you kick yet another addiction to the curb!!

Hey MForward! I have never smoked, but I work as a nurse on a cardiac floor. We see a lot of smokers come through and so I have worked closely with the smoking cessation team in the hospital. One of the biggest tips I learned (and I use this in my teaching to patients all the time) is that quitting smoking is more than just putting down the cigarettes. It is a whole life style change. Smoking becomes a habit, deeply engrained in every part of your daily routine.

For greater chance of success, you need to change your routine. It may sound silly, but if you always smoke while sitting at your kitchen table, eating grape fruit in the morning, then move your table and get a different breakfast. If you always smoke in the same room, try changing around the set up of the room! Like I said, it may sound extreme, but studies have shown that there is greater success when you change your lifestyle.

That being said, I have met some people who are perfectly capable of quitting “cold turkey”. It is all about finding what works for you! I am very proud of you for tackling this addiction as well. Good luck and you will do great!
