Mice - and removal of said vermin

Okay, this is daft. But, how do you get rid of mice?

I don't mean traps, baits, poisons or other deadly type apparatus, it breaks my heart to hurt little animals. But, I am phobic of snakes and having seen a 6" long red-belly black snake near my house recently, the little mouse who visits my veranda is probably going to lure them to my home and I am so scared. The mouse needs to be evicted.

So, are there any nice ways that you could recommend to remove mice? :(

Edit to add: The last time I tried to remove mice I tried a humane bucket trap with peanut butter to lure them in. It didn't work. HR then got tired of my antics and trapped them, and I cried for days. Need better solution.

We use those electronic pest control plug ins. I used to be over-run with mice in my office and since we plugged in a few, no more mice. :)

Hey Cris, sorry i didnt see this. Thanks for taking the time to respond to my vapid question LOL.

Mice, gone. :( But we had to use normal traps because one got into the house and sorry but thats just my limit.

Those electrical things freak me out.. i always wonder what they are doing to my body. Sorry if this makes you notice your cells contracting from this point forward :P
