      Default Help With K9

Ok, I installed K9, but i then removed it. This morning, I installed it again, but again, I removed it.

can someone please write down the best settings for it.
When i had it on my computer, i could not get my goggle to work.
I would get something saying K 9 protection not responding.

Then when I went to my email, I would get an SSL Connection error.

basically it just slowed down my computer. My main thing that i want it set up for is so i can not go to my porn sites. I do still want to be able to use things like YT, Because i use it a lot to learn how to do things, like work on a car, or build something, so i do need that video program. How can i set this up so i am protected from P ???
I have MSN, AND GMAIL ACCOUNTS if that matters
I would love any help on this

Do you have a internet filter installed on your computer yet?
If not, use K9 it is free, wont cost you a dime. not only will you save money, but you will save yourself from acting out.... Just a thought

I had K9 on some computers at home, and if I remember correctly, the computer has to be rebooted after installing k9 for it to work. Did you do this?

Other than that, I'm not sure what the problem might be. Can you copy/paste the settings you had into this thread and we can take a look at them?

Sorry I missed this post earlier. It sounds like you need to adjust the blocking settings to allow the sites you want to block and not block specific things, like secure sites. Try using a custom security setting. Add only the specific things you want K9 to block for you. You can always add sites to the block list if they pop up and have troublesome content. If you lock K9 down too tight, it will block just about everything and then some. :)

Hi INOH, yes do use the custom settings. I always found the preset settings blocked my email and other safe sites. Also I have found that adding specific websites and keywords to the blocking settings has been extremel useful. Everytime I come across a trigger site i just add it to the block url list and its no longer a problem. My list is getting quite long but its reduced my chances of encountering triggers when on the net.
