      Default Music Trivia

      Welcome to Music Trivia!

Considering TTF has a lot of resident music lovers, we thought it would be a good idea and a bit of fun to post some music trivia questions.

Post the answers if you know them.

If you post the answers, feel free to post the next round of questions.

      Let's Begin!

Much thanks to City Fool for the first round of questions!

      ~C~

      Thumbs up Round #1

      1. How many drummers played with the Beatles?

2.Rock pioneer Eddie Cochran, who penned some of early rock's biggest hits including, Summertime Blues, would change rock and roll, and the social fabric of the world forever before his tragic death in 1960. Cochran would never live to see the change, the result of an incident that took place three years before his death.
      What was the change?

      3. Jazz musician and composer Billy Strayhorn wrote a song about a train that still runs everyday in New York City and that song became the signature tune of one of the world's best know jazz band leaders.
Name the tune and the band leader

      4. What is the inscription carved on the headstone above the grave of the one of the worlds most famous classical music composers, Wolfgang Mozart? (Big bonus points for naming the location of his grave.)

      5. After being booed off the stage at a concert in 1971, one of rock's pioneers went on to write a song about that concert. The last laugh was his as the song would become a big seller and reach #6 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart after it's release.
Name the song and the artist.

      City Fool, very interesting tour!

There was no way I'd know these interesting facts off the top of my head, thus I was reduced to the Web for answers..

I did however receive a neat education in the finer points of music trivia
      1. 5: Thomas Moore, Pete Best, Andy White, Johnny Hutchinson, and an un-named "thug" who drummed for one show
      2. I couldn't figure this one out but I'll say "over-dubbing" (I had no idea it was done this early BTW!)
      3. Have to come back to this one..
      4. According to my research, Mozart's tombstone, if he had one, is lost or possibly he never had one according to the customs of his social class at that time; his grave is somewhere within the St. Marx Cemetery, Vienna, Austria (exact location of grave unknown); an epitaph by "K" and published in two newspapers read:

      To Mozart, who rests here,

As a child, swelled the world's wonders
      with the strings of his lyre;
As a man, he surpassed Orpheus himself.
Go hence! And pray earnestly for his soul!
      [Signed] K.

      5. Still working this one too!

      Daniel,

      1. You forgot drummer Jimmy Nichol who took over for Ringo on tour in 1964. He played in Denmark and Holland and Ringo rejoined the group in Australia.

      2. This one was tricky as well and question 1 was a bit of a hint.
Cochran also had a hit record titled 20 Flight Rock released in 1957. I first read about what followed in one of the many articles published much later.
I'll use this account from Wiki to elaborate:
The song triggered a significant moment in music history when the barely 15-year-old Paul McCartney used "Twenty Flight Rock" as his first song when he auditioned for John Lennon on July 6, 1957 in Liverpool, England. The 16-year-old Lennon was impressed by the young McCartney's ability to play the song on the guitar during their first official introductions at St. Peter's Church Hall prior to a church garden fete. The good first impression of McCartney's performance led to an invitation to join The Quarrymen - John Lennon's band that would eventually evolved into The Beatles. On The Beatles Anthology, McCartney noted that: "I think what impressed him most was that I knew all the words."

4.There was a lot of suspense and speculation a few years ago that his remains, buried in a common grave in Vienna, had been found. DNA test results proved to be inconclusive and so the actual location of his remains is still unknown. He had no headstone. A bit of a trick question.

The other two answers aren't as tricky.
