      Default Hi!

      Hey.
I found this website through my counsellor. I used to be an administrator of the site ********************* which is a forum for teens struggling with porn addictions. I have since stepped down from that role because I found it was causing me a lot of stress and wasn't helping. I then tightened my filter, and, because of the url, I could no longer get on the site.
I miss the community, the support and the encouragement that came from being on a forum with people struggling with the same things as me, so I thought I'd check this forum out.

I'm 19. I've been struggling with a porn addiction since I was 12. I'm sure you all know the story that goes with that. I'm a Christian, and that's a pretty big part of who I am. And central to how I want to overcome this.

Anyway, I'm hoping that I'll feel at home here as much as I did on my old forum.

Welcome, Nifty. Pleasure to meet you. Like you, I started as a teenager and I have been struggling ever since. I'm 21 now, and have been trying to fight against my addiction to P.

I know you will love this forum. TTF is a great place for those recovering from P addiction. It's an absolutely great place to do this. Welcome! This place is so cool.

Oh, by the way. If I may just offer a little bit of advice for the future, just to avoid triggers, please don't say "porn". It's pretty much a trigger word. On here, whenever we want to say "porn", we just use P. Much easier to handle. Please don't take this the wrong way.
The probability that we may fail in the struggle ought not to deter us from the support of a cause we believe to be just.

Hi Nifty! Welcome to TTF. It is encouraging that you have had experience with recovery forums in the past, and I hope you find TTF a caring place to continue your recovery. It is also encouraging to see TTF younger community expand...I am a 22 year old SO, here with my 23 year old fiance (Rockinastorm) who has been struggling with PA for many years.

I would suggest reading through some of the PA recovery journals in addition to starting your own. It would be a good idea to read through the rules before starting...our mods are really great, trying to keep any potential triggers out of the picture, so you need to get links approved prior to posting them. We also use a lot of abbrieviations so keep this site from being blocked by filters so that recovering PA's can still access this site and it reduces the risk of triggering someone. Even as an SO (significant other) I have found this very therapeutic.

So many of our PA's in recovery have wonderful advice to share and their journeys--though each different--share similarities that we can all learn from. I would also encourage you to read some of the SO's journals. I am not sure if you are in a relationship at this time or not, but either way it is good to see how this addiction affects everyone involved.

Out of curiosity, what drove you to the realization that you wanted to recover? You are obviously very active in your own recovery, as you state that you already have a filter and have been part of another community. I'm just curious!

Anyway, welcome again to TTF! I hope you start a journal soon so we can follow your progress. Good luck and we are happy you found our community!

Thanks for your replies. To be honest, I'm finding all the abbreviations a bit of an issue, struggling to know what half of you are talking about half the time (thanks for clarifying "SO" for me). Is there a page somewhere with the common ones on it?

As for what made me want to start recovery? God. It's always been God. And He's getting me through now.

His grace is sufficient for me.

      Hi Nifty,

Welcome; this is a great place. I'm new like yourself and love the support that TTF gives

I also started with IT when I was around your age; I'm now 53 and still struggling with it.

      Good luck with the fight.
