      Default Recovery Time

      Hey, I'm Wise (not really).

I've been dealing with P for around three years (not so much MB, like, I've done it before but if I want to stop that, then fine), and only recently have I stopped and realized what I was doing.

I'm too young to throw my life away like this I'm still in school, and will be for a while. I'm a straight-A student, but if I keep having to deal with P that won't stay the same for much longer.

I tried to stop once, without telling anyone else Big mistake. I was back at it within two weeks. But here, with others to support me... well, that's an entirely different situation. I think I can do this. I know I can do this.

Guys, it's time to turn my life around.

      Hope you can help

      - W

      Hello Wise. Welcome to TTF!
I have to disagree with you Wise. I do think that you are actually quite wise for recognizing this as a problem in your life and seeking out support for yourself to rid yourself of that problem. I am always happy to see people who are seeking recovery of their own volition, rather than being 'forced' into it by the discovery of an SO.
Wise I know you will find many here who will offer support and guidance to you. There is nothing better than the guidance of someone who has experienced the same as you have. I wish you strength in your journey!!
      All the best!
      Jenn

      Hi Wise!
I am glad to see you here. I am an SO (girlfriend) of a PA who is also on this site (Rockinastorm). I suggest reading his journal…he is my age and from your intro post, I am guessing you are close to us in age? I agree with Jenn, you are wise to come here! Don’t sell yourself short for realizing you need to change this…that is a lot more that many people!

I have some suggestions to start with:
--Get rid of any P you have (on your computer, magazines, etc.). Keeping any stashed away will make relapse easier
--Get an internet filter (K-9 is what Rock and I use…it is free and works well). Make the password long, and keep it someplace that will make you think twice, such as giving it to an SO, accountability partner, or putting it in a locked space, out in a car, in a thought-provoking book, etc!
--If you are in a relationship, consider getting your SO involved on TTF. Honesty is the best policy.
--Make a habit of writing in that recovery journal you already started (YAY!)
      --Read PA and SO journals

I hope you find these helpful and that you consider them. You are doing great just by being here and realizing you need help. Good luck with your recovery! I hope to read your posts soon!
