      Default Hello

Hello, I am sblong, and I am joining as a 17 year old PA who wants out.
I have discovered P, I believe, at the age of 13 or 14, I can't really remember. I hadn't really realized the damage it can do until perhaps the age of 15, and at that point there were several small attempts to eliminate it from my life, which progressed to become a bit larger in scale, but still all attempts have been unsuccessful. When I discovered this site's sobriety calculator from a Google Search, I investigated more and I saw a great community with a very hope-inspiring atmosphere, and I am signing up here now.

Two days ago (today being June 19th) I decided to install a P filter on my machine, and with a random string of letters that I could never be able to guess. Since then I haven't had any urges, which is good, but I still unfortunately have reason to believe that this may be tempoary. Last time I had gone 2 weeks, but it was becoming something like a weight that I could no longer bear. I had given in to the intense pressure and strain from staying sober.

      Patiently,
      James Fisher

Hello James, and welcome to TTF!

Glad to see you recognizing your problems with P at a very young age. Many of us here indulged for the better part of our lives before we sought to get help and seek recovery. Also glad to see you put a filter on.

Please take some time to look through the articles and journals here. I would recommend that you start your own journal, it is a great way to track your recovery and you will get some great feedback from others who are struggling with the same issues.

Welcome aboard James! You have come to a good place. Hope to see you around.

Welcome James! I am glad you have found us!
I agree with Mell. It is good that you are here at your young age. There are many here who didn't realize that this was a problem in their lives until much later in life. By realizing this so early you are putting yourself in a position to fight this and to gain back control of your life. James, please start that journal in the recovery section so that you can put down your thoughts and get the support from others. There are many wise and caring people here who can help to guide you in the right direction. So glad you chose to install a filter! You have made the first steps James, you are on the right path!
Wishing you strength James! Your dignity and self worth are surely worth the fight!

Welcome to TTF James! I am glad that you have decided to fight your PA, and I hope that you find TTF a safe, motivating, supportive place to begin. I am an SO, but my BF is here as well (Rockinastorm)…we are both 22, so close to your age. I would suggest reading his journal! I hope you start a recovery journal to keep track of your progress. You are in a wonderful place to heal! I wish you all the best, and hope to read more from you soon.

Hello James, we are happy to have you here at TTF

It is so encouraging, to see you here at a young age. by wanting to get this out of your life now, is the best thing for a much brighter future for you.

By getting this out of your life now, you will be able to go into a relationship, without this problem, getting in the way. you need to get this out of your life now, because the longer you keep this crap in your life, the more grip it can have on you. you are now on your way of not allowing anything else to control you. What you need to understand is, that once this addiction has full control over you, you will be lost in the world of this addiction. it will take you many places, but not one of them, will be a good place to go.

I am glad to see that you have installed a filter on your computer. you need this, to stop you from getting to dangerous sites when you have the temptations to do so.

The other thing I would like for you to do is, see if you still have any hidden files that contain P, on your system, and if you do, DELETE THEM NOW. you can not wait for another time, or save any of them, because if you do not delete them, I will assure you James, that you will turn to them. So please get rid of them NOW

I do hope that you start a journal, so you can keep track of your progress here. also by having a journal, and writing in it, we will know what you are going through, and will be able to help you the best that we can.

There are some members here that are close to your age, that may be able to help you more. getting the support from someone close to your age, will no doubt help you so much in your recovery

James, again I am glad you are here, and I am so deeply moved, that you are here at a young age. start this journey now, to free yourself from this addiction, so you can have a Bright, wonderful full life, without this being a part of it

Good luck to you James. you are not here alone in your battle

I Encourage all who think they need it, to please give SAA meetings a chance.

Do you have a internet filter installed on your computer yet?
If not, use K9 it is free, wont cost you a dime. not only will you save money, but you will save yourself from acting out.... Just a thought

      Welcome James.

I am 23. I grew up looking at p quite regularly from the age of 14. I have recently considered confronting my parents about how I was addicted to something without their knowledge. I think it could be quite important for me to do that, especially when I see p was central to some of the lower moments of my teenage years. I just thought I would mention that if you were considering some radical attempts at approaching this.

I am male and 23 years old. My first post on TTF is here. Please read it! ;)

And this is my journal here.
