      Default hello

This is my first post, and I guess I'll just use it as an opportunity to talk about some things that I'm not sure about.
      • I have been to a few SAA meetings and wonder whether that's the right place for me. I have no doubt that I'm a PA, but I don't feel completely comfortable with the SAA format.
      • I'm not sure I can handle the stresses of normal life, with or without P. At the moment, I'm feeling completely overwhelmed.
      • I'm not sure what to tell my SO, if anything.

      Thank you

      Hey There Burned out

      Welcome to TTF.
You obviously have some questions in your mind as to the best direction to take into recovery.
You have come to a great place here at TTF. I am sure some of your questions can be answered through reading and conversing with other PA's and also the SO's of this site.
Be sure to give yourself some time to settle into things here
There are all kinds of resources here if you choose to grab onto them.
I wish you all the best on your path to recovery

      Mac

      Hi Burnedout!
Welcome to TTF! I am glad you are here! You will find much support and wisdom here. TTF has been a blessing in mine and my H, Mac's lives!
Burnedout, I am sorry you are feeling so overwhelmed with life at the moment. I have no way of knowing what that might entail, but I can almost guarantee that your P use is not helping in any way with letting you live a calm life, in fact it is very likely exacerbating it!
Burnedout, you don't have to make any decisions about your SO right away. You can take some time to consider that. Having said that, there are many here who did not tell their SOs and wish they had that to do all over again. You have the chance to do this ahead of her discovering it on her own and there is much to be said for that upfront honesty. It would show her that you are striving to be honest and are serious in your desire to be free from P.
The other thing about telling your SO is that it seems that others here who have the support of their SO can benefit from that support. They have another compelling reason to work hard to maintain their sobriety.
Burnedout, I encourage you to start a journal in the recovering journal thread as you will gain much from getting your thoughts and feelings down. It will become easier as you move forward!
All the best to you Burnedout!
      Jenn

saa is not a bad thing i would suggest a few more meeting they get easier as u go and as for telling your so that is your choice but i am sure she has a good ideal already and p addiction is very secretive to continual the secrets would be prolonging your recovery as for your circumstances they are bound to improve along with your efforts to recover i am a little new to i found good advice here i am thinking about starting a 9pm chat for people who just need some one to talk to i will be there at 9 my time i think that is eastern if u want to talk hang in there

Thanks to Jenn, Mac, and tntang for responding. There is a lot more I want to say in reply to your welcome messages, but that will take more time and thought. For now, I just wanted to say that I have almost been P free since last Wednesday. I looked at some images this morning and am still having trouble fighting off urges. It is getting bad because I am trying to read something for me class tonight and can't concentrate. But I am grateful for this site and everyone's help and concern, and feel confident that things will get better with time and effort.
