hi all, just starting to realize im a PA, and willing to admit it, over the last 10+ years. its been effecting my marriage the last few, and ive decided to put an end to it. ive installed the X3watch software, and picked up a guitar to disract myself, but even as i type this, the urge is there. sober now 4 days, hope to make it 4 weeks, then 4 months, and so on. thanks to the people who keep this site going, from the admins to the members. hope to talk to some of you soon

Welcome to your new family here at TTF
You have come to the right place to get help. I am already so encouraged by you, seeing that you are already 4 days clean from this addiction,=D> this is a very good start.

You are now on a journey to a better life, a life my friend without porn in it. It is going to be a tough road, but by no means, am I saying you will not do it. you CAN be free from this, but it all depends on how much that you put into your recovery

First, you need to make sure that wanting to rid your life from this addiction, is in your heart to do so. If you are only doing this to please other people, just to make them happy, you will more than likely fail at any attempt to get rid of this addiction.

There are so many things that you need to do, to get you off to a good start.
Do you have any secret stash still on your computer?
If you do, dont open the files, but go to the files, and delete them now. dont wait for a better time to do it, because if they are on your computer, you will go back to them. PLEASE DO IT NOW
I am glad to see that you already installed an filter on your computer. the best thing you have done so far

Do you have a recovery plan that you have set for yourself?
If not, find what you need to do, to keep you away from wanting to act out. only you know what it is that you need to do, to stay away from this addiction. so make your recovery plans, your own, make them work for you in every way. it may work for you, but in time, you may see that you need to change a few things in it. It is all about what works for you.

As I said, you can do this. many changes are to be made, so make them. we can never hide from this beast that we are fighting. he is ALWAYS around. we need to know what our triggers are, because this beast, will always put on in front of you. he is going to work real hard in trying to getting you to give in. He has been a part of your life for a while now, and you just pissed him off, by telling him that you dont want him anymore.

Since he is going to fight you hard, you just fight him back even harder. he is power yes, but you can beat his ass, and knock him to the ground.
So right now, find the tools, weapons that you need to fight this beast. always be on guard against him, because he will be lurking around, just waiting for the right time to attack.

You are not here alone my friend. there are so many here that will help you with this fight.
It would be good, in time, to start a journal here, and write in it, your struggles. this way we can read what you are going through, and we may be able to help you a little more

I wish you the best of luck in your recovery. Never back down to this beast when he comes around

Do you have a internet filter installed on your computer yet?
If not, use K9 it is free, wont cost you a dime. not only will you save money, but you will save yourself from acting out.... Just a thought

Hey Brandon... welcome to TTF and congratulations on making the biggest step in this recovery... admitting it! Your willingness to better yourself will serve you well because this my friend is a long process but well worth the journey because you will find it liberating to be free of it!!! ...and in my opinion you found the best site of folks you'll ever find for help.

Hello Brandon! Welcome to TTF! I wish you the best in your recovery! I'm glad to hear you've started already, by using software on your computer. X3 is the program we use in our house, but if you're still having cravings and afraid you might relapse, you might want to look into K9. It's more security oriented, while X3 is more accountability oriented. Either way, you've found another great resource in this community and its' members! Best of luck to you!
We do not want to do the work of helping you to believe in your humanity. We cannot do it anymore. We have always tried. We have been repaid with systematic exploitation and systematic abuse. You are going to have to do this yourselves from now on and you know it.

thanks for the encouragement. we went ahead and put K9 on the computer too, kinda a combo of both, not sure if X3 will catch it if k9 blocks it, hoping for a security plus accountibility aspect ut of it all. hope to talk to you all soon, and update you guys

Congratulations! You are in that fantastic stage of recovery where we feel great because we have shown ourselves that we can stop acting out. Porn-free air just tastes better. Use this to stay focussed and get a few weeks of sobriety up.

But also read what INOH wrote above. You will need a thorough plan to beat this because the honeymoon will finish and this battle will get tough. That's when you start to realise that giving up porn is about making huge changes in your life.

This might be harder than you first realised. But if you succeed it will be amongst the finest things you have ever done in your life.

      All the best to you.
