Default Finally brave enough to admit I'm a porn addict.

Hi there everybody. I'm a 35 year old man who has come to grips with the depth of my porn addiction. I began using internet porn 10 years ago to deal with a disfunctional relationship with a past girlfriend and other issues I still grapple with from childhood. I, like many of you as I can tell from your posts, went through the various stages and denial of quiting and then restarting. I guess the realization of turning 35 this month made me mourn the time and opportunities I have wasted and realize the possible future I face if I continue on this path. I reinstalled the Covenant Eyes software and have some committed, vigilant accountability partners. I'm going to implement other measures as well. We'll see how it goes. Thanks.

I would like to welcome you to TTF

From what I read, you are like so many here at this site. You are a addict. I am so happy that you came here to get the help that you need. It sounds like, you already do have some plans installed for you to deal with your recovery. I am very glad to see that.

As you may already know, this addiction is the hardest addiction to overcome. No matter where we are, what we watch on TV, or what magazine we look at, this addiction is right there with us, with all the things that can act as a trigger. This is why, we need to learn now, what are trigger may be.

We all need to make so many changes in our lives to even have a chance of beating this crap, and getting it out of our lives. We need to have a recovery plan that will work for us.once we have it, we need to work it, and work it hard. we need to show this beast that we are fighting, that he is no longer wanted, and we are now taking full control of our life. Never waver in your plan. if you see that there is a hole in it, seal it, before this beast finds a way to wiggle in to us, and make us give in, slip to view porn.

I see that you have already installed a filter for your computer. this is the best thing that you can do. I just hope you dont know the password to it, if you do, I would suggest that you give it to someone else.
It is so important that you no longer have any access to any porn. if you have any secret files hiding on your computer, please delete all of them now. So many have fooled themselves, thanking they can leave it there and be safe. all that proved, was that in a weak moment, they had something to run to, and into, they gave in. Your recovery, being free from this, should mean more to you than the stash that you may want to keep.

Please do what ever you need to do, to fight this addiction. we are all on a long and bumpy road to free ourselves from this. but if you work your recovery plan good, in just a matter of time, this road gets smoother.

I encourage you to right now, find the best weapons that you can use to fight this beast, never back down from it, but fight a fight that you will be determined to win.
You are not here alone my friend, there are so many that are willing to help you. we all are rooting for you, and we will help you fight this battle.

Start your own journal, and come here as much as you can, and share your struggle with us. this is the only way that we can know how to help you. also come here, even if it is to report, that you are doing good, and remaining free from this.we just need to know that you are ok, and doing good.

I do wish you the best in your recovery. Good luck to you my friend

Yeah I had to get rid of the stash yesterday. I made my fiance the one in charge of the password. I'm taking it one step at a time. Thanks for your reply.

      DavidTexas1976,

Welcome to TTF! I'm glad you found this site. It sounds like you have had a look around here and have seen the stories many of us are sharing about our recovery from this addiction. You have clearly made a good start, getting rid of everything, installing a filter, and getting support and accountability. It can be a long road, so put in place everything you can to succeed. I have been away from pornography for almost two months, but I have used it for most of my life, and I am in my fifties. I hope you can kick this now and get your life going in the direction you have chosen.
