Hi! My name is Alan. I'm 35 and in a same sex relationship. My problem is that I'm addicted to porn, which leads to other things. I look at porn on a daily basis and just can't stop! Its killing me! Is it possible to EVER stop?

Alan
First, let me welcome you to TTF. You have come to the right place to help you with your addiction. There are so many here going through the same things as you are. We can give you the Encouragement, and Support that you need.
My friend, you asked a very good question…..Is it possible to EVER stop?
The answer to that is YES, but, it does depend on one thing my friend, and that is this:
IT DEPENDS ON HOW BAD YOU WANT TO STOP
If you are to ever get control of your addiction, you are going to need to make many changes in your life. I have never seen anyone ever beat this on pure WILLPOWER alone. This is going to take much needed work, and determination from your heart, if you are to even have a chance of beating this addiction
You need to put together a recovery program that will work for you. But if you find that it is not working for you, never give up, but instead, take a good look at your program, and see where you need to make the changes in it. Once you find it, then you are on your way to a much better life.
You are going to need to understand, that this road you are on now is not a smooth road, but filled with many bumps and pot holes. It does get smoother though as you go along in your recovery
This addiction that we all have here is the hardest one to overcome. I say this, because, no matter where we go, there may be some triggers in front of us. So you need to now, learn what your triggers are, and start working on these areas.
Alan, I feel that you can best this addiction, if you put your Heart and Soul in your recovery. again, this is a hard fight, but I know that you can do this. now is the time that you take full control of your life. this beast that has been with you all theses years, needs to know that you are now the boss, and that you no longer want him around. you have been addicted to this way to long now, so please do what you can NOW, to get this crap out of your life.
You are now on your way of becoming a better man, not only for yourself, but also you will be a better man for your Partner. He will soon start seeing a better person in you
So right now , choose all of your weapons, and get them ready for this battle. I also encourage you to please come here as much as you can, and go through others journals. read about what they are going through, and what they have done in there lives to overcome this crap. I also encourage you to start your own journal, and write in it often. if you do this, and record your struggles, we will have a better ideal of how we can help you
You are not here alone Alan. you are the one that needs to fight this addiction, but we will be here to help you the best that we can
I am glad that you are a part of our family. Try right now, to make today the first day of a porn free life
I wish you the best Alan in your recovery

Alan, welcome to the site! I just started three days ago, so I'm right there with you! I hit rock-bottom emotionally because I could not stop going back to it every time said I'm going to stop. Afterward I always realize how destructive it is to myself and to those around me. And yet again and again I would go back. The members of this site have been incredibly supportive, and for the first time I feel like there's some hope for me. Although I'm just a beginner and I can't give you very much wise advice, I do want you to know that I'm pulling for you ! Hang in there, and learn as much as you can. You are definitely not alone in this flight!
