Hello all, I found this site and decided it would be a good idea to join. I have had a problem with p and mb for a long time now, maybe 15+ years. I struggle with both constantly and I am just tired of living life like this. Hurting my wife and family and just not being a good person like I should be. I had a good counselor for a while but he had to move about 100 miles away and I was making progress with him but it has been about 6 months now since he left and I have just slipped back into a bad routine. My wife knows about my problems and we have had fights over it, I even got kicked out of the house for a month because of it. We have been working together on it but I need some support from someone who has been there with the same issues and can maybe guide me in the right direction to finally get rid of this curse.

      Thanks

      JJ,

      Hello and welcome to TTF.

The first step is admitting you have a problem and you have done that. There are some great articles and references here, please check them out. Many PAs and SOs keep journals, I would advise you to look into some of them and then start your own.

Also, perhaps your wife would be interested in joining. We have an awesome group of SOs on the site who will give support to her.

Best wishes on your recovery - you can do this!

Yet each struggle, each defeat, sharpens your skills and strengths, your courage and your endurance, your ability and your confidence and thus each obstacle is a comrade-in-arms forcing you to become better..... or quit. Each rebuff is an opportunity to move forward; turn away from them,...avoid them, and you throw away your future." -Og Mandino

Welcome to TTF. As Mell stated, you already made the first step in you recovery. Now is when we need to make changes in our life. I f we are to rid ourself from this addiction, we have to look at ourself, and see what it is that make us want to act out, and do theses things. As you read from other here, you will see that many have the same issues as you do. Just by reading from here, can help you get a good foundation started on your recovery. No one here can change you in anyway, or cure you. It is up to you, to start curing you, to have a great recovery. Yes it is a long road that we are on to beat this, But it can be done.

You will get the needed Encouragement, and Support that you need to get this recovery going. I hope that you find yourself here as much as you can be, so you can get help

I will come and post more here in your journal as you write in it
I wish you the best in your recovery
