      Default 40 year addict

I'll keep it short, I've had various forms of SA for 40 years, never have told anyone about it or tried to get help. My life looks extremely successful from the outside, but it's just an illusion. My goal is to go cold turkey for 100 days starting today. This forum is a great resource and I hope to put it to good use. Thanks for your support in advance...

Welcome to TTF. I am glad you came here for your help. I am new here also, I have been here for about 63 days. This is the best place to be. I have about 30 years of porn built up in me, and I am now on my way to a new life. I have gone about 62 days without using, and I feel great.

You will receive so much support here, and the encouragement that you get is the best. Stopping this addiction from being in your life, is not a easy road, but it can be done. We need to just make many changes in our life, to make this recovery work. The one thing about this addiction unlike many others, the temptations are ALWAYS right there in front of us. No matter where we go, watch on TV, or what we see in a magazine, there can be triggers to make us give in to the temptations. P can sneak up on us at any time, so we always need to be on guard. I encourage you to come here often, and read from others, who are going thru the same thing. If you are on your computer, and you get the urge to click away to one of you favorite spots, CLICK here first, and just start reading, so you can get your mind back on track.

Try to learn what might set you off to the point that you want to act out in your problem, and try to chance it. The main thing that we really need to do, in order to have a good recovery, is that really need to readjust our thinking. We really also need to be honest with ourself. If you slip, then you slipped. That dosent mean you beat yourself up about it, it just means you pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and start right back to your recovery. If you do slip, try to pinpoint what you was doing, or what you saw, that made you slip. We all here just learn by the many mistakes that we make with this addiction.

I want to see you beat this. I want to see you get rid of this addiction forever. I want to see you live a much happier, and cleaner life. ONE DAY WITHOUT PORN, IS A VERY WONDERFUL FEELING.

Good luck to you with this battle. You are not alone here. We will help you with what we can

Thanks, I have a good idea of my triggers. With me, I think just the existence of this forum and the idea that I'm communicating his problem to someone else is going to be a huge factor in getting me to change my behavior. I literally have been in hiding about this for 40 years - nobody knows, neither family nor friends. TIA for the support.

I am glad that you are aware of what your triggers are that may set you off. That is a huge step in any recovery. But what is more important, is when we do feel theses triggers coming on, is what are we going to do at that very moment, so we do not give in. Only you and you alone know what you need to do to fight this problem. That is why I really say please fight this, dont allow it anymore to come in your life. We will always be here to do the best we can to help you.

I hope you are having a wonderful day today.
