      Default Hey,

Well this is my first post. Never thought that it would get to this but here I am. I have an addiction to p. I have no idea why but I guess thats why I'm here to hopefully find out why and to kick this thing in the ass. I have probably had a problem for 3 or 4 years now but just starting to realize that its not normal. For me I look at p clips mostly when I'm bored and there is no one else home. I have an awesome girlfriend and I need to quit to help my relationship and myself.

Want to thank everyone in advance for all your support, I have been reading some of your posts and looking around the site and this seems like a great, supporting group. Thanks.

Hey, Bodangles: Welcome! Give yourself a ton of credit for figuring out (like the rest of us) that you need to stop. I think that, for me, it took years (and a number of tries) to admit that, like you, I had absolutely no idea why, but that I did have an addiction. I guess the best way, for me, to say it is that p might be okay for others (like wine is okay for me, but not for my friend in AA), but p for me is nothing but trouble -- I just need more, and more, and more. I can't stop. I say/have said I can stop, but I can't. I waste tons of time and, like you said, put strains on my relationship. So congratulations for taking the step of introducing yourself.

You should also give yourself credit for figuring out a few of the triggers, like you mention: being bored, being alone. I guess a next step might be for you to figure out what your plans are for the next time you are bored. Like, even a simple plan like going for a walk or, I don't know, driving to a cafe so you aren't alone or calling a friend/family member or something.

There are a lot of sticky notes on this site, and it sounds like you might have read many/all of them, since you mentioned that you've been reading somethings here. If you can, try to read the ones about making a plan and about soul searching. I don't think soul searching is what it's called, but obviously we are all trying to attack our addictions from many angles -- plans, but also looking into our selves and figuring out what might need analyzing.

Good luck to you! Stay in touch, and remember, whether you stay clean for every day of the rest of your life (I hope!) or whether you have a relapse, we are here for you! It's really useful for US, too, to hear your story, since it sheds light on our stories.

      Take care,

      Dave42

      Default Hey

      Welcome here.

I have been visiting this site for a couple months and I am amazed how much it has helped me.

This is not the site itself that helps but is the way you start to look to yourself and your motivations after you start to write about the addiction.

You will see how good it is to find the reasons and the triggers that lead you to P. You will get to know yourself better, and it seems that your whole life gets better.

Wish you luck, and donīt forget to look for freedom in the love of God that is freelly given for averyone who looks for it.

      Bye.

Default Best of luck!! You can do it!

Best of luck! I am a week old member. This site helps so so much. Its a great support group with many stories and links to help. I wish you the best of luck! Your girls gonna love that you are doing this and made the decision to get away from the P. My biggest thing was to view porn when I had nothing to do. Keep busy my friend and if you could build some accountability with your girlfriend. Man giving up P has been one of the best decisions I have made and you will love all you do when you break free. Have a good one bro. God bless. =D>

"Keep busy my friend and if you could build some accountability with your girlfriend. Man giving up P has been one of the best decisions I have made and you will love all you do when you break free." I love this advice from Robert. Here's to all of us keeping busy. Even if you don't want to, find something to do, and go do it. TV doesn't count. And stay the f* away from your computer. Go out for a jog! Go to a cafe, go read a book in a park. Go clean out your closet. Go wash your windows! Go volunteer in a soup kitchen. Anything but p.
