      Default Hi

Hi there, basicly i have a problem with porn, i dont know how, i dont know why, but i do. I spend alot of time on chat sites and second life looking for cyber sex. Not something im proud of, and my need to do it is becoming a problem (not to mention how stupid it is considering how hot my girlfriend is). So far it hasnt caused any real problems in my life, but im sure if it went unchecked for longer it probably would, so starting today it stops now. I'm here for you guys if your here for me. Anyway just saying hi and introducing myself, forgive me for getting cheesy.

It's not cheesy Joe. We are here for you and I am proud of you for acknowledging your problem at such an early stage in it's development. You are already ahead of the battle. P has hurt the ones I love and I have almost lost my wife because of it, so don't underestimate the severity of p. Just understand, you are not alone and never will be again. You have the strength to defeat this demon!!

It's great that you've come on here before you feel it is causing problems. Maybe you could read through some of the SO journals to see the kind of problems happen with PA? It might help you recognise the beginnings of some issues in your own relationship, or at least help you see what could happen if you don't make changes now?

Welcome to the forum & good luck :)

Hey, good to read your post. Welcome. I guess the part I liked best was this: "So far it hasnt caused any real problems in my life, but im sure if it went unchecked for longer it probably would, so starting today it stops now." What I like is that you are trying to stop before the problem gets worse. What plan do you have for coping with temptation and with (for me the biggest problem) the voice in your head that will eventually say, "Just a little won't hurt. I can control this." I've listened to that voice many times in my life, and I always end up, eventually back at the place where it sounds like you have been: spending way, way to much time on p.

Good luck and stay strong! Also, have you read the sticky posts about making a plan and writing down what you think are some of the root issues and triggers. I found that helped/helps me.

Thanks, to be honest i hadnt got as far as a plan, for the moment i think im going to stick to will power and see how things go from there, if the idea needs changing then i will change it, but to be honest i dont see the point in hiding from it in a public place, if its always going to be there then there's no time like the present to show it who's boss.

      JoeJ,

Welcome to TTF!, I'd like to join in the small chorus here...

I sincerely hope your willpower is super-strong and can withstand the urges that will inevitably come.

Early on in the committment-to-be-free process there is a euphoria that will make you feel as though P could never touch you again.

I wish it wasn't true but this euphoria eventually wears off and the day-in-day-out journey of staying free will require more effort...

Glad you're here, hope you can stay on the straight and narrow, we're here to help you along!,

      Daniel

Thanks, dude it's good to be informed as to whats ahead of me. All i can say is that if the going gets tough then ill get going. Truth is, i know im better than this, and i feel i'd be doing myself a diservice going about things any other way, but having the help of the folks around here certainly will make the ride smoother i hope. Just have to see what comes.
