A very good and inspiring post indeed. Many of the triggers for myself are boredom, and being alone. I agree that over time, your "hunger" becomes more insatiable, and soft-core is definitely a gateway to other things. I have been playing guitar for 8 years and I find that constructive hobbies are the best way to help you along. As mentioned earlier in the thread, irritability is a large side-effect, also being short with people. Instead of giving in, just leave the house - go drive around in the car, go for a bike ride, walk, exercise, etc. I find that most of the urges come when I am home alone, and have nothing to do. Simply just doing something won't control it, so usually I have to leave the house. But to help with the irritablity, I can quietly play guitar, or read. Anything helps. :D

That was cool to read about the 'detox' period. I'm totally feeling that, and was wondering what was going on.

I guess it really does affect you outside of your eyes and the computer screen.. i dont know if i realized that stopping would be so hard. but it seems [after reading through a few posts around here] that its worth it. def going to stick it through for a while and see what happens.

Default Yeah, that "being alone" thing does keep things going as is

jimfear, you hit it when you said it's the being alone thing that helps trigger the MB'ing.

It always amazes me that when family comes to visit (I live alone and am the designated house for when family come in from out of town), I don't even really have the desire to MB or watch P, and magically, nothing negative happens to my lower region.

Though, I can't lie: As soon as the coast is clear, I am at it with a fury. It's almost funny, but then it's not because it feels as if I wasted an opportunity to get on the right track.

OK, first open this link in a new window: Journals for SO's - TTF community forums

That will take you to the forum for SO journals.

Right at the top of the page there will be a blue button with "NEW THREAD" written on it. Press that and a page will open titled "Post New thread". In the box under the caption "Title:" type in a name for your journal. e.g. "Flame2aMoth's Journal". Underneath that there is another caption "Message:"; the box underneath that caption is where you type in the text of your first post. Once you've finished typing that you can select an icon for your post from the selection under the caption "Post Icons". You don't have to do that, it's up to you. (Ignore the "Tags" section it's not important)

After you've done that press the button with "Preview Post" on it to get a preview of what your post will look like or just press the button with "Submit New Thread" on it to add your new thread.

I hope that was helpful. Feel free to message me or any of the other moderators if you have any more questions about this or anything else.

      Best wishes,

      Ben
The world is in a constant conspiracy against the brave. It's the age-old struggle: the roar of the crowd on the one side, and the voice of your conscience on the other. - Douglas MacArthur

"'Thou mayest rule over sin,' Lee. That's it. I do not believe all men are destroyed. I can name you a dozen who were not, and they are the ones the world lives by. It is true of battles - only the winners are remembered. Surely most men are destroyed, but there are others who like pillars of fire guide frightened men through the darkness. 'Thou mayest!' What glory! It is true that we are weak and sick and quarrelsome, but if that is all we ever were we would, millenniums ago, have disappeared from the face of the earth. A few remnants of fossilised jawbone, some broken teeth in a strata of limestone, would be the only mark man would have left of his existance in the world. But the choice, Lee, the choice of winning!" - East of Eden by John Steinbeck

Something that makes me trip up is my iPod touch. If you watch porn on your iPod or iPhone, don't let yourself be alone with it. I put mine in the living room when I go to bed so I don't use it to watch in bed. Don't let porn easily accessible!

Also, be careful who you spend time with. I have a PA friend who feels that porn is normal. Being around him and talking with him has been something that can make me trip.

Since you mentioned the ipod/iphone - There is a free app that you can use instead of Safari that gives warning when it looks like you are about to access Porn, and also gives the option to send an accountability report to any email address you choose... Its also available for Android phones... Its called X3watch. You can also install it on a regular computer. Just FYI for anyone else who struggles with usage on a phone or ipod touch. :)

Even if you choose not to send the report, it still gives a little reminder and an out before it loads the page.
