      Default TS's Gratitude Journal

Inspired by Jenn and Disillusioned, and a few others who end their journaling with thoughts of gratitude, like WaterLily, I have decided to start a Gratitude Journal.

      Today, I am grateful for:
      • Air conditioning
      • A teenager who is learning how to occupy his time better over the summer
      • Our upcoming family summer vacation in the heart of Pennsylvania Amish Country in 2 weeks, which I just finished booking! I’m so excited!!!
      • My h who is stepping outside his own box and encouraging me to talk more about his negative behaviors and how those are affecting me, as well as my son at times, b/c he wants to learn, he wants to understand, and he seems to want to change…

I am feeling a little warped today, due to lack of sleep. What might not normally be amusing to me, is amusing to me today.

I just learned that today is "Hug Your Boss" Day (what will they think of next?).

I am grateful that my h's boss is male and not female.

And this thought is making me oddly chuckle, for some reason. Maybe b/c even though I know he won't hug his boss for real, I still pictured him hugging this man anyway!

So, I am also grateful that I am so easily amused today!

Me too, TS. Even with all the turmoil and confusion, I have found that the world is a beautiful place, and there is so much beauty in nature and in people's faces, especially the eyes. I have also found that things lose some of their power over us when we can laugh at them. I don't think I will ever be able to laugh at p and the pain that it causes. I truly thought this was something that wasn't so mainstream and wasn't addictive. Oh my, I was wrong. No one is immune to what it can do. Not funny at all.
Ever see some one pick something off the floor when they were vacuuming and drop it down again expecting the sweeper to pick it back up? I don't want to analyze why that popped into my mind just now. I just want to appreciate the humor of it. Our minds are truly funny and amazing things.
So glad you started a journal of gratitude, TS. Keep writing, as you do it so well.

Thx for visiting, Jenn and D!

Yes, Jenn, we went a few weeks ago, and it was just as lovely as it always has been for me. It did not matter that it was cloudy and rainy the first 2 days, b/c we were there. We still got to do most everything we planned to do. The lack of humidity and lower temps, being further inland, were a welcome relief from the coastal norm. I've been going there on trips since childhood, so I have a long-time connection with the area. I've taken both my sons there multiple times. It will always be special to me.

Yes, D, some things do lose their power when we can laugh at them. I am one of those people who repeatedly tries to get the vacuum to pick something up - it becomes a challenge! I am glad you too can find amusement in small things, and beauty all around you. When we lose sight of that, we are in trouble.

      Today, I am grateful for...

My dear friends here at TTF.
The lack of humidity and temps in the low 80's.
A day without rain (another .07 inches and we will have the wettest month ever in recorded history for this area).
      A working sump pump.
My two sons being able to spend 2 days together down at the shore (in Wildwood).
My having a day of peace and quiet (save for our barking dog Shiloh!), freedom, nothing on the calendar (until tonight), and feeling inner peace, despite a hectic weekend and stormy moments of inner turmoil for me. They are not there in this moment, and I can wait until later to deal with them.
Moments of laughter while out with my friends for a "Girls Night Out" Friday night.
Moments of fascination and curiousity while on a walking tour of the Atsion mansion and the surrounding historical ruins and remnants that still remain.
Moments of fascination and bonding while my friend showed us around his home, explaining to us the history behind each of his pieces of antique furniture; while he showed us around his farm, telling us all about the many different vegetables he is growing in his huge garden (I never knew there were so many different types of corn, tomatoes, and the like); and while he showed us all his farm animals. I never knew how much fun it could be to make a group of turkeys gobble and run amuck in unison!
I know this will sound gross, but if you could have seen it, it was one of the most hysterical incidents I've ever witessed: My friend's 2 male dogs each lifting their legs to mark territory and relieve themselves on one another at the same time, as they stood side by side in their respective kennels in the yard!!! Now THAT was a real p*ssing contest!!!
