      Default Iphone

Hey guys. I want honest input here, so please don't hold back. I have not done any self-security measures on my iphone yet. I was just taking a look at it yesterday, and it could easily be a tool to feed the addiction. As of yet it has not been, but only because I have yet to gain complete control of the primary addiction tool. This computer. I am not happy to say that I have been consistently using adult chat rooms :(. But that is for another post. Back to the point. I am afraid about what might happen when I start making more progress on my computer. Will I start to get less able to control my use of my iphone. What I want to do is cognitive behavioral therapy, basically what RN does. I believe that this approach would be a blanket approach, applying to sobriety and recovery everwhere, on the computer, iphone, etc. But should I do something to secure my iphone from myself? A few things have held me back. An iphone is an incredible tool. It is amazing to have the freedom to check my bank account, read emails, and use the internet for benign, normal tasks. I have to admit that having the big, bold youtube app (that comes already loaded on the iphone when you get it) has been a little tempting. But so far I have been able to resist. Again, only because I have yet to quell my bad habits on the computer :(. I have some serious work to do guys. What do you think I should do? Perhaps install K9 on my iphone the same way I installed and secured it on my computer? That way I would still be able to use the internet for normal tasks. Caveat: there are gray areas that can easily be taken advantage of by the addict. Or something more intense? I don't know. One thing is for sure. I need to go to my K9 and move the protection up a level. I believe I tried to do that once, but it screwed with facebook, which I had put under do not block on my exception list. So I moved it back down, foolishly. Sorry for all of the information and chaos in this post. I would like some input.

My PA H no longer uses his I-phone. HUGE source of P. Before the final discovery, it was the PRIMARY source of his P.

Yes, he grieves its loss, for all the good reasons you mention.

Perhaps it will come home to him again someday!

      Hey Rich,
I know this is probably not what you are going to want to hear, but ANY phone with internet access is a potential risk as far as I can see. I would go find a phone without or have your data plan locked out. K-9 DOES have an I-phone app, but I am not entirely convinced that its fail-safe yet....

      Rich,

I briefly skimmed your original post, but only because I was skimming the forums on my way out the door at work. Check into SafeEyes. They now have a program/app for the iPhone, as well as the iPad, too, I believe. I'll tell you more about it later.
