Lightbulb Pornography addiction vs. sexual attraction

      Hi there,

This is just a thought after reading through several journals and spending some time contemplating. Pornography addiction leads to an altered state of thinking, i.e. sexualizing (sic) the entire world. You can't glance at a women without replaying some scene of p, or thinking of an action, or realize that behind it all is a person with unique feelings and purpose - another human being worthy of respect.

I see in some blogs people feeling ashamed for looking at a women and feeling lust. We are humans, and as humans, we feel sexual feelings. This is normal and numerous studies have shown that thought suppression leads to the opposite and unhealthy behaviors. As opposed to suppressing the thought, analyze it and put it aside.

i.e. Looking at a person and experience
"I'm experiencing sexual attraction. This is normal. I do not need to progress further in my thoughts. This is a person worthy of my respect. There is more to the person than just a sexual being".

Therefore, making the thought logical and it doesn't need to linger anymore. When you suppress thoughts, you just push it further to the unconscious. Unconscious thoughts linger and cause all sorts of problems. Face your thoughts. As humans, we are sexual. We do not need to deny our sexuality, but rather control it. Pornography takes that control away. It provides the medium and only allows us to sit there mindlessly absorbing and destroying our minds.

      Acknowledge your thoughts.
      Provide reason to your thoughts.
Your thoughts do not define you.
      You choose your actions.

      Just my two cents,
      mforward.

p.s. feeling more human day by day w/o p.

I wanted to write about the moment when your addictions no longer hide the truth from you. When your whole life breaks down. That's the moment when you have to somehow choose what your life is going to be about.
