Post <span style=""><span style="">Internet Filter Software & Reviews</span></span> - 01-31-2008, 08:37 AM
Here is a small list of the top rated Internet Filtering software on the market.
The majority of the below mentioned all work of a central database of known P sites, and keywords searched for. All have monitoring options aswell.
Naturally all differ in price and functionality. But I thought this would be good for any partners of a PA to do their own research and see what is best for them.

It would also be great if those who do use the different software to possibly post a review and share your thoughts and reccomendations with others.

Please feel free to add to the list as you see fit.

Default My Review of Cybersitter Software - 04-24-2008, 03:58 PM
Prior to myself acknowledging my PA, my wife had caught me out one time, and she purchased and installed Cybersitter on my home laptop. This put a complete stop to me looking at anything on the home PC.

So what did I do, I used my work Laptop! Since the beginning of this year, my when i joined this site, My wife updated Cybersitter on the home and My work laptop.

There have been times ive had the little voices in my head, and ive wanted to search for something, but I do not even attempt it! The reason I dont even bother is because:

a) It will show on the logs that my wife will get
b) It will be blocked anyway

I think of it kind of like a thief being put off from stealing a car or breaking into a house.

When you see a form of security, some flashing light, or a security guard blocking an entrance, It stops you, and make you think, IS IT WORTH IT?

The answer is always...NO.

(just to clarify I am not a criminal)

The actual software is really simple and easy to use. My wife only knows the login (Obviously), and sometimes some sites that are actually are ok are blocked aswell, So i just ask her to check it out, and if shes happy with it, she adds it to the allow URL list.

And thats it.

Cybersitter has different levels of lockdown, I am on a pretty high lockdown, sort of like a Maximum security prision. This means it will also remove any untoward words that i would type etc. Hence i can only type 'P' not the full word, as it would be removed when i post.

Now to some thats just plain crazy! It annoyed me at first, but actually I now quite like it.

For the minimal cost of about $25 It has prevented me from slipping up. by me not slipping up, has saved my marriage. How much do you value your relationship?

I really do highly recommend Cybersitter, who also have good tech support if needed.
It just acts as that last BIG BRICK WALL, stopping you from completely falling and crashing.

Any questions, feel free to ask. If any partners want more info aswell specifically from a female, feel free to PM my wife Inshi.

We are trying to add to this list, I have read many mentions of other filtering software. If you use K9, or Netnanny etc, Please can you write a short review in this thread. We want to maintain this as a resource, so if you have any comments you wish to make please do so in this thread:

Self Control vs Internet Filters

As this resource grows, we will make it sticky.

Thanks for your support

Helloooo,

I have just (this morning) put K9 on my laptop. It's free software which is a real bonus and I've spent a short time trying to break it just to see how good it is...

So far it seems to be un-bypassable (made up word . The best feature so far is that it can be set to block all internet acccess if a set number of sites are blocked within a set time period. I have set it to block all web access for 30 minutes if I get 5 blocks within 5 minutes... hopefully this will give me time to cool down.

It also has different degrees of blocking, from full lockdown to a simple list of undesirable sites... I've put myself on full on lockdown!

Also since I have to know the password I made it something which to me basically says "don't be a loser you know that you don't want to do this". I hope that will make snap out of my p hunt if I ever resort to removing k9.

I'll keep you posted on how I get on with it.

Default 30 day free trial of Cybersitter - 06-18-2008, 09:11 AM
Have you got tired of slipping up?

If you are learning to skateboard, snowboard, rollerblade, dont you think its essential, to have the proper gear and equipment to lessen any injuries and protect yourself?

I for one am still learning to be P free, and that is because I have my safety equipment.

I invested $39 / £19.50 on Cybersitter. This has prevented any potential falls.

My marriage was saved by the following:
  1. Admin and the creators of this site
  2. A few fantastic individuals who advised my wife what to do. (Dominus, Light and 021Hallows)
  3. Honest Communication
  4. $39 / £19.50 for Cybersitter.
Many of you agree with points 1 to 3. But many disagree with point 4, or do not have the belief or finance to try.

Well... I would like to challenge anyone who does not have an internet filter, that genuinely wants to be P free.

This Link is to the Cybersitter website. You can do a 30 day no obligation trial: http://www.cybersitter.com/predl.htm

What have you got to lose? only your quality of life, and relationship!

If you do not have a partner or someone that you can confide in. You can call Cybersitter, and explain that you need them to embedd a password in, so that you cannot access it. They will do that for you! How cool is that.

So no excuses now! Dont lie to yourself, our lies with this addiction has consumed to many years.

Default K9 Web Protection - 06-19-2008, 04:03 PM
I too can't speak highly enough about K9 web protection. For a free product, it is extremely good quality. Its unobtrusive, you never know its there unless you stuff up. As opposed to other software, it doesn't have an icon down in the task bar and doesn't hog any system resources.

It gives a great degree of control, with every website being put into one or two categories, and you are able to select which categories to block. For example, categories I allow are gambling and hacking sites, and categories I block are Pornography and Illegal/Questionable. It also has a monitor function which is handy.

It has been 99% effective for me. One site i could access with porn on it, because it was my own personal website, therefore it had not been seen by anyone else and had no classification. Also, unfortuntely, it didn't block any adult newsgroups in Windows Mail.

Overall however, I am very impressed with the quality of this product and I would recommend it to all. K9 Web Protection - Free Internet Filtering and Parental Controls Software

When I was young it seemed that life was so wonderful.... a miracle. Oh it was beautiful, magical.

Thanks for adding this to the list Heartache, Would it be possible for you to provide a little review of the main benefits of this package so members can see all at a quick glance?

Thanks

Here's one for ALL ads, including banner ads, pop ups, etc. It's not porn specific, but it does block some of those annoying everyday pop ups.

Only downside is that you must have Mozilla Firefox Browser to use it.

It's called AdBlock

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/10

just install it and subscribe to a list of which ads to block, and Vwa la!

I have experience with x3watch and accountable2you. x3watch acted like it worked but I never got any reports or anything, so I didn't see a point in having it at all. Accountable2you is awesome, you can set it up to email you a daily or weekly report, it also sends alert reports if anything questionable is attempted. I only used the free versions of both.
