Default Functionality Questions - 06-24-2008, 09:02 AM
Hi Admin,
I really love the functionality of this site. Its so easy to use and also pleasant to use. I just have a couple of questions.

1) Is there an easy way to quote multiple sections from the same post? So far the only way I seem to have found is to type the quote tags myself.

2) The thread I most commonly post to is my journal thread, and I'm wondering, is there a quick way to find this thread? Because I dont post in it every day, its usually on the second or third page in the journals list. I guess its not that much of a hassle to go navigating, but I'm just wondering if theres already a feature in place such as 'favourite threads' or soimething which could easily allow me to get to my journal.

Thanks for any advice.

OK this is how I do it,

1. When you want to make multiple quotes from the same post try copying the entire quote, deleting the bits you don't want in it (to get the first bit) then paste the whole lot after it where you want the next bit, take out the bits you don't want to get your second quote. Thats the only way I've found to do it.

2. Try going on your profile (click on your user-name at the top of your screen) There should be a link there saying: "Find all threads started by Scooter". Click on that and it will come up with a list of all the threads you've started. It probably won't be a long list so your journal is quick and easy to find.

Hope that helped.

Best wishes,

Ben

1. Yeah, I guess thats more or less what I've been doing. Guess I was just wondering if there was an easier way.

2. I found that by clicking on my profile, i can just click the link in my signature. Thanks for sharing that.

hey scooter, there are tags that you can use. They are forum tags The first thing you want to do is type out the left bracket " [ " then type out "quote=" then right after the equals type out a double quote, the user name your quoting, then a closing double quote then the closing bracket " ] ". Then after the quote is done you type in the left bracket again, then type out "/quote" then the right closing bracket.

like this, only without the asterisks "*" [quote*="scooter"]this is something scooter said[*/quote]

it appears like this

Thanks HP. Yep I was aware of the tags, was just wondering if there was something in the user interface that made it just that little bit simpler. This forum software seems to be an awesome package, with lots of great functions. Maybe what I was looking for is something that will be implemented in future versions. Thanks again.
