This is so true. I lost a childhood friend to suicide last week. This is someone I wasn't terribly close to then or now - the younger brother of a good friend of mine. But he self-destructed on Facebook over the span of about 36 hours after his wife left him, so all of us who connected with him on that forum felt some sense of responsibility, or survivor's guilt, or something. I wish I had known how deeply depressed he was, and I wish I had had numbers I could call, or that I could have given him to call. But now he's gone and it's too late.
