That's really exciting, and in fact since I have been coping quite well with the PA, I was looking for resources for mutual support for the underlying depression. I hope to be active on the new forum as well.
One slight thing that struck me, though, was the way the forums are arranged according to the ever-shifting and expanding panoply of medically defined mental 'syndromes'. I'm sure some people find this useful, but there are others who feel boxed in by the syndrome categories and think of mental 'illness' or whatever it is (do we really know?) in various other ways - spiritual, existential, sociological and so on. I feel I'm at risk of becoming the philosophical nit-picker around here, so just let me know if I'm out of order.
Some resources for different points of view are the Icarus Project and the works of R.D. Laing. Buddhist and Chinese Medicine perspectives are also interesting, and don't forget Jesus and his disciples' main 'job' - driving out demons, i.e. treating schizophrenia. |
