A2 says:
Ok well let’s kick of then...
Vorlan says:
ok
A2 says:
In your initial days at TTF, you had quite a tough time and relapsed a few times. You confirmed that you had a few link and triggers such a sugar, romantic failures and fights with friends, You still have sugar right?
Vorlan says:
yes, though far less than I did
A2 says:
so are you saying the reduced sugar does not trigger you anymore? it was what, the right balance of sugar?
Vorlan says:
Basically, I mean it's practically impossible to avoid sugar altogether but by having the minimum I can minimise the risk. Even now I very rarely eat food like chocolate which has a high sugar content as the risk is too great.
A2 says:
that’s interesting, thank you
You have mentioned music is a big in your life, generally music can stimulate emotions, when you listen to some types of music do you not think about love and romance, which could lead you to relapse?
Vorlan says:
Thinking about love/romance used to make me think of relapse but only because at the time I felt vulnerable in those areas. Part of my recovery has been that I've addressed those issues I had with romance and it's far less of a hang-up for me now. I'm happy with being single and with
myself now so no, those thoughts in music would no longer be a trigger to me. There are music types which could trigger me but those are pretty specific and are not necessarily romantic
the music which would trigger me now would tend to be things which aim to seduce the listener, pop/dance/r&b stuff normally. I'm not keen on those music styles anyway though so that’s not a big problem
A2 says:
Of all the members on TTF, who can you relate to the most and why?
Vorlan says:
Tough one that! Erm...
A2 says:
don’t expect any easy questions!
Vorlan says:
haha
A2 says:
have to push you for an answer now
Vorlan says:
I suppose if we're talking about people who I can relate to the most I guess it's probably Little Lock, you see I had the good fortune to be the first to welcome him to the site and to be able to see his development as a person from the start. It probably helps that he's younger like me,
I could see in him from when he first joined many things I saw in myself at the beginning of my recovery
A2 says:
I see...ok moving on then...
Your an Admin now within the TTF team, so you’ve seen a lot, are you able to look at new members now, and work it out if they are going to enter this journey whole heartedly or not?
Vorlan says:
No, I don't think that's the sort of thing you can really predict. I'm probably better at guessing than I was though. It usually comes down to planning, if they come to the site with a plan to recover and begin to set it into motion straight away and they are totally honest and open then they are usually going for this wholeheartedly...
if not they aren't. the other good indication is how many of their lifestyle choices and other habits they are prepared to alter. Those who are prepared to change nearly everything in their lifestyle to recover are far more successful.
A2 says:
spoken with true wisdom! ok last question!
Vorlan says:
cool
A2 says:
Do You MB?
Vorlan says:
No, I decided relatively recently that MB will never be "OK" for me. It's not as bad as PA certainly but it's still not healthy for me. I haven’t MB in a while (not since my slip as recorded in my journal) and I aim to never MB again....
A2 says:
You’re a young single guy; surely you must need a sexual outlet
Vorlan says:
Being young and single is just an excuse, if I can't control my basic sexual urges single how can I ever expect to control them in a relationship. Our bodies are clever things and if you don't MB the body will self regulate with wet dreams to stay healthy.
A2 says:
Vorlan, Thank you very much, that is your 60 seconds interview complete
Hope that wasn’t too tough for you
Vorlan says:
cool, dw it wasn't too bad at all!
